Venue Stress 😩

Adriana, on January 15, 2020 at 9:06 PM Posted in Kentucky Planning 0 5
I am having SUCH a hard time finding a venue. We’re from a small town and there are only two wedding venues local, one is booked and the other I am just not a fan of. We were looking at a place a little further out (about 45 minutes away) and we’re schedule to take a tour, then I was notified that someone has just booked it for our date. I don’t know what to do! I am out of options and ideas, and also a little heartbroken because I was already in love with the place we were looking at. Does anyone have any advice on finding venues relatively close to home? And how far would you consider too far to ask guests to travel for a non-destination wedding? Help!!!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Adriana.

I’m sorry to hear the venue got booked. That's disappointing.

If you don’t like the other local venue, would you ever consider doing something yourself with a tent at a public park or if a family member/friend had a backyard or piece of land you could pitch it on? This may be more effort but something to consider!

The WeddingWire venue directory is also a great place to check out in nearby towns for wedding venues - Kentucky Wedding Venues.

Are the majority of your guests local?

    Hey Adrianna!!

What town are you located in and, what are you looking for? I've been to a lot of venues in Kentucky and, may be able to help!

We have booked our venue, thankfully! We decided to change our date and go with the one we loved from the start. Thanks for the help!

Not sure what part of KY you're in. Check parks- especially state parks. They often have air conditioned buildings or conference centers. I know Levi Jackson, Big Bone (very nice rustic great for a DIY wedding) and General Butler (conference center with catering) both have them. Also check for community centers and for places that you could put a tent rental instead.
