Venue Headache!

We were told that too when we looked into placed like banquet halls and things like that. They were pretty much giving us that price range because we had to spend that as a minimum.

I would look into parks or privately owned places that will just charge you a rental fee and go from there. We found a very pretty remodeled barn and she just charged us a flat fee for the whole day. No taxes of anything because she owns it herself.

My FH and I both just googled wedding venues in our area and wrote down all the ones that that wanted to tour. We then sent them all emails and inquired about more information and told them our date to see if they even had it available. We then set up tours and went together. We had one place on both of our lists that was the same and that was the one we both ended up really liking.

Community centers tend to be cheaper too!

Have you used the venue search option on Wedding Wire or The Knot? We found our venue on The Knot.

Are the prices you are being quoted an all-inclusive price?

Are you wanting the venue to be in Alexandria? I live in Virginia Beach and I am quite familiar with the Northern Virginia area and know that it can get quite expensive when looking at wedding venues (I looked up there). If you are willing to have your wedding at another location around Alexandria, then maybe you could find somewhere slightly cheaper. I know here in Virginia Beach I was able to book my venue for $5,200. Do you know what type of venue you are looking for as well (ballroom, restaurant, beach, barn, etc.?) because I might be able to research a couple places I know up by Fairfax and DC area for you if you'd like!

I was looking in Alexandria and surroundiung places as well. I'm very open at this moment. I wanted to have an indoor ceremony due to my fiance being a sweater. An outside event wouldn't be the best for him. I live in Fairfax county and DC is not far from me. I would GREATLY appreciate your help!

I looked at a couple places around that area and this is what I found so far:

1) Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, Va., which states it starts around $2,500 per every 50 guests.

2) Tower Club Tysons at Tysons Corner, which starts around $2,000 per every 50 guests.

3) Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Va., which starts around $1,000 per every 50 guests.

I also emailed a couple other places for you (since it didn't have the pricing estimates available online, so I will get back to you on that as well!

Hi Heather! I don't know how far you're willing to travel, but we finally found our dream venue, and it's not expensive at all! You might want to check out the Maymont, in Richmond Virginia.
