Venue & Candles

Anna, on October 29, 2022 at 1:17 PM Posted in Colorado Planning 0 4
Hi Happy People!! My fiancé and I are getting married in Colorado next year! It’s always been my dream to have a wedding oozing with candles and florals. The challenge is finding a venue that allows “open flame candles”. All the venues I’m finding in CO have a requirement to use a hurricane glass tube over the candle. I’m sure with CO being such a dry state that’s part of the reason for the restriction🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m really hoping to find a venue that allows open flame candles as pictured. Any advice is much appreciated!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻Venue & Candles 1

I hate to say it, but I don’t know any professional venue that is going to allow an open flame without the precaution of the Hurricane tube over it. It’s basically impossible for a venue to get insurance without that clause. That being said, have you looked at pictures of taper candles with hurricane tubes? It’s actually gorgeous! To be honest, I prefer the look to non-covered candles – they look more expensive and it gives a softer more romantic glow.

    Hi Cece,
Thank you very much for your input and helpful tips! Indeed, the taper candles with hurricane tubes are absolutely stunning!! I’m just really going for a specific look. I’ve seen friends I know have their reception indoors at venues that allow open flame - possibly it was not a professional venue. The Taper with hurricane tubes are a great alternative! Take care!

That’s a very rare find! Could you just have your event at one of the venues your friends used?

Due to the Rhode Island nightclub fire in the early 2000s, almost no venue anymore allows open flame for safety and liability purposes. Ask your florist to provide rental vases. Also, tapers are not sturdy to stand up on their own like pillars and votives do.
