Venue - Aria in ct

Mariana, on August 4, 2021 at 4:14 PM Posted in Connecticut Planning 0 4

Did anyone on here have their wedding at Aria, in Prospect, CT? If so, how did you go about tipping the venue? I know they have a 20% service charge already included but I was told that this does not include gratuities. Tipping another 20% on top of that seems excessive and very expensive.

Not sure how to handle this. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! What's the service charge for then? I'd question the venue on that. To me it sounds like they're pocketing the 20% and expecting you to tip twice. I may be wrong though.

    Hi!

I’m not getting married there, but I did look into it. It’s beautiful! (Just a little too far for most of my family that lives in Massachusetts!) but I would definitely ask about that. The venue I ended up choosing has three different things, a house fee, a gratuity fee, and then local tax, so are they rolling everything into one? I’d either call or email them and get some more details about what they fee includes 😊

Hi Mariana! I'd double check with the venue what's included in the service fee, but if the caterer's tip is not included then you should tip 15-20% of the food bill.

Hi Everyone! Venue Service Charge (18 up to 24% pending the venue) is to cover all operating expenses not related to food and beverage (food & beverage-open bar is the per person cost of package price, pre service charge and state sales tax). Staff Gratuity is often the responsibility of the bridal couple, but some venues add this to your final bill.
