Going to start off by saying I have never been a fan of veils. They rub me the wrong way because of the origins of the tradition and what they are supposed to represent, so I have been very adamant that I wasn't going to wear one. The bridal consultant put one on me when I was trying on dresses - against my wishes - and I didn't like it.
Lately I have been reconsidering for a few reasons: I like the cool veil shots that photographers are sometimes able to get, I want my appearance to look 'complete', and I thought it would be a nice surprise for my fiance since he knows I wasn't planning to wear one. But I'm not sure how to go about buying one, since I don't want to buy it from the bridal shop and would prefer to buy something off a secondhand site or even from David's. Do I buy one and ask the bridal shop if I can bring it in to try on? Would that be rude?
Do I have to get a cathedral veil, or would a fingertip veil work? Can it be worn under my updo, so I don't pay $150 for a hairstyle no one can see?
In my shoes, would you even bother with a veil?? So many questions.
