Usher's and Ceremony Coordinator

MIWM, on June 4, 2019 at 7:40 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18
So my Ceremony Coordinator (She is a family member) Text's me last minute and said I must buy my 2 usher boutonnieres and I must buy her a corsage. I had already paid for my wedding parties corsages and boutonnieres and really do not have the money to be wasting last minute on this. Is this a standard thing........ Please let me know. If all else fails I'm sure I can buy cheap boutonnieres at Michaels but I don't think they sell wrist corsages.

I don't know about the corsage, but I don't think I've ever seen an usher without a bout. It's pretty standard in my area that ushers at least have a rosebud bout.

Ok thank you! and can women wear pinned corsages instead of a wrist corsage. I may have to look into doing something cheap or make homemade ones.

I think a pinned corsage should be fine. I didn't realize your wedding is Saturday. If you can get them from Michael's, I would say do it. Make it as easy as possible this week! This was very last minute for her to bring it up now. Good luck this week.

Thank you so much for your advice. I was talking to my local grocery store and they said they could make me boutonnieres for cheap and a pinned corsage.

Oh! That would work too. I'm doing either grocery store or farmers market flowers. Nothing wrong with it. As I said, at this point you need easy and if it's not expensive, that's a bonus.

Yes! It kind of caught me off guard that she just brought this to my attention this morning. I am honestly just thinking about purchasing her a pinned corsage from Michaels crafts along with the Ushers. I just want easy as possible.

It’s standard for all wedding party members to have flowers: B & G, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, grandparents, officiant, and ushers. I’m not sure about the mistress of ceremony though.

There is NO WAY she gets a corsage. Tell her thank you, but no. She is full of it.

As to the ushers, yes, I think you can boutineers from Michaels or Costco

Karen I was thinking the same thing. She is a family member of mine and she just threw this on me this morning and told me it was not a big deal.

A coordinator does not because they are more so supposed to be facilitating in the background. I would say the ushers should have bouts, even if it's simpler than the groomsmen and fathers!

My Coordinator ( Who is a family member) Is making a big deal about it and says she needs one. My bridesmaid's Mother is going to purchase a corsage for her just so she can stop complaining to me about it.

Jeez, this is why nobody has ever heard of this. She's a family member and just wants a corsage. Normally, a coordinator's job is to coordinate--in the background. This is not required, and I actually think it's kind of rude of her to insist, especially since she must have some idea of the cost of this wedding. To ask you to spend even more money is wrong.

This is why I'm not asking or hiring any family members for any part of this wedding. They are my guests and that's it. I don't want to accommodate weird requests like this.

I havent heard anything about the coordinator having a corsage, seems a little like prom to me LOL.

Ushers should have a boutonnière though for sure. That or at least a fancy pocket pin.

I've always through of those as optional. If I were you , I'd say too to late too make changes and your order has been paid for in full.

I’ll be honest. I have a hard time agreeing to something that someone tells me I HAVE to do at my wedding. If I don’t want you to have a bout, you don’t get a bout. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That said, I don’t usually see ushers without bouts unless you’re wanting there to be clear lines on who’s in the wedding party vs who’s not. Also, I’ve never heard of the coordinator getting a corsage, so I don’t see a reason for that

Cristy I will never again hire a family member again when it comes to planning a special event.
