US Honeymoon in October

Stephanie, on August 29, 2017 at 3:46 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13

My fiance and I are looking for a fun, adventurous mini-honeymoon to go on for a couple of days in the US this October. Hoping to find a fun place to go that will not have a crowd. Any suggestions would be helpful. Would be a plus if you could mention some fun things to do in that area while there. Thanks!

Colorado getaway on a ranch or in the mountains airbnb with a hottub and a view. Aspens are beautiful - recommendations for places to stay: Loveland, Breckenridge, Estes Park. Attractions: Stanley Hotel (basis for the movie 'The Shining'), hiking, beerfests and whiskey fests, mountain drives.

Depends where you're located and what you want to do. If you're outdoorsy- be on the water in a boat or visit Maine. Visit vegas or the Grand Canyon or New Orleans or Nashville. Tons of cool places to try

I suppose anywhere would be better than the North Pole...

Where are you located, OP? I second Meeseeks, Denver is a blast! So many fun little breweries everywhere and no humidity. I also loved Estes National Park.

We did a family trip to upstate NY in late summer a few years ago--stopped in Beacon, Hyde Park on Hudson, and Utica. it was super lovely, very quiet, and we were told the fall colours were amazing in that area. if you keep going south from Beacon you hit the Catskills i think--we didn't have time to go that far but i wish we had!

ETA stuff to do: great restaurants in Beacon and Utica, lovely beach walks, cute stores to poke around in, yoga studios, live music.

If you don't mind a cooler destination, Maine and New Hampshire are GORGEOUS in October. So much foliage and woodsy stuff.

I'm always down for Vegas, but I also have very questionable morals and I'm a degenerate that likes to gamble and drink. I also did one of those dune buggy rentals when I was there. It was pretty f'in cool. I've seen just about every Cirque Du Soleil shows. I did helicopter tours and I've visited the Hoover Dam. I know the you said no crowds, so this option might be out.

California is gorgeous in October, it's my favorite month here TBH. There are a bunch of awesome places you could visit, or do a road trip through the state.

    - SF & Napa

    - Lake Tahoe and Yosemite are GORGEOUS that time of year esp if you want to do something more adventurous and you'll be going after the crowds.

    - Central Coast: San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, wine wine and wine

    - LA area, if you're interested in this you'd be coming after tourist season. I'd stick to Malibu/Santa Monica area. (I live in LA so it's harder for me to imagine someone coming here for a honeymoon.)

    - San Diego / Encinitas, more relaxing beach towns with plenty to do

    - Palm Springs is amazing in October. You still get the desert heat but It's so much more comfortable than the summer months. There's a huge range of stuff do here - stay in relaxing resort-type places, boutique hotels (Arrive Palm Springs hotel is yassss), stay out in the desert in Joshua Tree, etc

I live in the Bay Area and it's gorgeous here in October. The perfect time to explore San Francisco and take a trip to the Napa/ Sonoma area if you're into wine tasting.

I was just looking at this online today. Its an interactive map of the peak leaf times. I'm not sure where you are located, how far you want to travel but this may be helpful.

I live in upstate NY, near Beacon, as mentioned by PP. It can be beautiful around here. I've heard the Smokey Mountains area/TN, western NC are stunning in October as well.

Western NC and Eastern TN. You should be able to get some good leaves during that time. I would book quickly the hotels fill up FAST during that time of year. If y'all love to hike I would highly recommend.
