Up-lighting

Merline, on January 18, 2020 at 9:01 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Did anyone add up-lighting to their reception? Our DJ emailed up us yesterday letting us know that he now offers this service. We think it looks pretty cool and will add some fun to the reception. There is an add on fee, but is it worth it? Did your guest enjoy it? Let me know! Thanks.

We had up lighting and I loved it. Definitely added a fun pop to the room! I let our D.J. and venue decide what color to use because we set up the night before and I didn’t care and they chose a light blue that I think worked out really well Smiley smile I’ve also seen them use soft white and that adds a super elegant feel if your room is darker.

I'm definitely planning on doing some uplighting! I'm thinking amber to add a really warm cozy feel to our space.

I thought uplighting might be too cheesy but it made all the difference. Our reception wouldn’t have been at all the same without it.

Yup! It actually made a big difference in look and the mood, even with just five lights. What does your DJ charge? Our rental company charged $95/each which I think is ridiculous so we happily found RentMyWedding and rented cordless uplights for only $25/each (free shipping).

Our uplighting made a huge difference. I guess I don’t really know if our guests enjoyed it, no one was like “wow, great uplighting,” but everyone said the space was beautiful.

Uplighting transformed our space and changed colors to set different moods. We also had bare walls so we projected abstract breakup patterns onto them and that looked really cool.

The impact is actually a lot greater in person. I seriously wanted to have another event just to use them because I wanted to transform another space!

I just wish we pulled them back from the walls a bit more to create a broader "spray" effect with the lighting inside of such a narrow beam.

We added it to our package based on the pictures. It really changes the look of the room and they can be any color you want.

Yes, I thought it would be cheesy as well. We looked at a lot of before and after pic and will add it!

The DJ finally emailed us back. He is only charging $120 for the up-lighting. Based on the pricing we saw online, we figured that was a steal.

For how many lights? It’s convenient if your DJ can bring & set-up.
