Unity ceremony

What are you doing for your "unity ceremony" if you are doing one? We are leaning toward the sand in some way as our wedding is outdoors and fighting the candle doesnt seem fun.

We are going to do the traditional candle. It fits our Christmas candle lit theme well and I like it way more than sand. My friend that’s also getting married is doing the cross of 3 strands and that’s also a cute idea.

We are doing a wine ceremony. One Decatur has red the other has white - we pour them both into the glass and drink from the glass as a simple of the sweet & bitter parts of marriage.

Do you mind sharing a script you may have found for this? I'm considering this as well, but I dont know how to incorporate it into the ceremony.

In the cord of 3 ceremony, I assume one cord is for the bride and one for the groom but what does the third represent? Thanks!

I'm struggling with this, too! In my dream ceremony, we do the glass option -- but that seems way out of our price range. Leaning towards the sand myself.

Mine is going to be a sand ceremony. Besides the real reason and significance, we're looking at it too as in a representation of our island/home and we're taking sand from our two favorite beaches that are casually where we spent our first couple of dates.

We "planted" a small bonsai tree (I think it was "money tree"). We asked both of our parents to come up and add some dirt, then we added some as well. The parents' dirt represented the strong foundations our families have provided us growing up and ours represented the foundation we are building together. We ended up getting married a couple months earlier than planned because his mom had terminal cancer and wouldn't make it to our November wedding. She passed last weekend but we both have that symbol to hold on to forever.
