Turning Stuck-at-Home into a Staycation

Elle, on April 8, 2020 at 11:32 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 6

Most of us are spending way more time than usual at home right now. So why not make the best of it and turn some of that time into a staycation? The possibilities are endless:

- Massage and pampering night

- Watching favorite movies or trying out some new ones to find some new favorites

- Taking an online cooking class together to learn to cook a new kind of cuisine

- Scrapbooking or designing photo books with all the pictures you've accumulated throughout your relationship

- Touring museums online

- Breaking out the board games or card games

- Stargazing in the backyard

- Dancing to your favorite songs

- Catching up on much-needed sleep by sleeping late or taking naps

- Ordering takeout from your favorite date-night restaurant

- Binge a show or podcast together

- Having a picnic on the floor

What are your favorite quarantine staycation ideas?

I’ve been streaming the free operas through the Met and touring historical sites like the Great Wall of China’s and Maccu Piccu! Today I did the Moma and Mars!

We are avid backpackers and it's driving us crazy that we can't do that activity right now (we live in Arizona so the weather is perfect!). I gave my FH a nice surprise this last weekend and set up our backyard as a backpacking site! Setup the tent, our backpacking gear, our backpacking stove, lit the Kiva and had our own mini backpacking "trip" at home. We slept under the stars in our tent, and our pup was super excited because he got to be at home but be in the tent too!

I still have my Nintendo Wii.

We are totally busting out the Wii Sports games and having a whale of a time playing ridiculous games and flailing about the living room. (...I'm winning a LOT of the games and I may or may not be gloating?)

DH has been playing with our wedding gifts for the kitchen - making ice cream and french fries and all sorts of yums.

Also, our schedules are usually opposite, so there's just been more snuggling. Like, honest to goodness, cuddle as we sleep snuggling. ...It's really nice.

Very cool! FH and I got engaged at the Met so we are totally going to check out the free operas! What other resources are you using to access the virtual tours?

Movie nights and dates, I ordered take-out surprised him sent him a calendar invite to be dress for dinner in an hour. Set the table while he was in shower had candles and music playing. dinner was amazing. we cuddled on living room floor watching movie. Oh course we fell asleep there woke up like 2am sore from floor got a good laugh out of it and went to bed. Great night, I overheard him talking to his mom about enjoying quarantine and how I've been keeping us busy and how much fun it's been.

We have also done experimental cooking. We are both talented in the kitchen usually very competitive but we tried new things out of our comfort zones and my co workers is encouraging it because as we are essential workers they love the left overs and our stories. Oh and we played card games and tried pictionary which was hilarious since I cant draw to save my life.
