Too many groomsmen not enough bridesmaids

Greg, on January 15, 2024 at 7:32 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 3
I have 7 very close friends that I would like to be my groomsmen however not many bridesmaids. So my fiance and I are feeling like going in the direction of only having a BM and MOH. Only thing is I still want my friends to be part of the wedding, I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and what they did.

Bridal parties don't have to be even at all. Friends don't come in symmetrical batches. Also wedding parties don't have to be separated by gender. Any good photographer will make things look balanced.

Having said that, a BM and MOH is also fine! It's an honour to be invited, so I wouldn't worry about making everyone a part of it.

    Good luck with your decision!

Wedding parties do not have to be even. It's unrealistic to think that friends will come in even numbers. It's actually super common to have uneven sides these days! So don't feel pressured to eliminate on your side, or to add on the bride's side. A common practice with uneven sides is to have the bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down the aisle, then sit in the front row (so it doesn't look uneven at the alter). You could have everyone sit, or you could have only the best man & MOH stand with you. And there's no need to worry about photos looking strange - wedding photos are much more dynamic these days (think lots of movement and interesting poses, rather than everyone standing in boring lines); so your photographer will be able to create beautiful photos regardless of the number of wedding party members on each side.

It’s really easy for guys! You have a few be groomsmen and the rest as ushers. That’s still part of the wedding party but not standing at the altar.

And agreeing with the others that sides don’t need to be even. I do understand not wanting a wild mismatch, though. One side with two and one with seven can make the smaller side feel unpopular or overshone.
