To Tip or Not to Tip

Pat, on May 3, 2023 at 11:11 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I am just too stressed to look through all the posts LOLOL

Three. More. Days.

Okay - so, tipping. I have questions.

We hired a trolley to pick up all the attendants - 20% tip is INCLUDED in the price. Do I tip any more?

Welcome Dinner - 18% gratuity INCLUDED

Reception - 23% gratuity INCLUDED

All other vendors don't have tips included, but suggestions? -

Day of Coordinator , DJ, Photographer, Photo Booth (we didn't pay for this, it was a gift from my son's roommate as this is his sister's business) Wedding and Officiant

Thanks. Did I mention I am THREE DAYS AWAY from the wedding??????? LOLOLOL

    It’s crunch time! Good luck.

Our venue included 20% gratuity and we ended up tipping the bartenders on top of that.
We also tipped the DJ and Photographer 25% that was not included.
Our Coordinator’s fee was not included and we paid her $500. This was all because of impeccable service.
Because your photo booth is a grift, I would definitely tip them heavily.

Oh my gosh, it's your wedding week!! Congratulations!!

For the trolley, since tip is already included, I don't think you need to tip on top of that, unless you feel the driver went above and beyond. Guests might also leave a tip for the driver even if you already covered it.

For the vendors that don't have tips included, I think it's up to you if you want to give a tip of not. Definitely consider their work when it comes to giving a tip - if their work didn't meet your expectations, don't give a tip. If you feel that they went above and beyond, giving a tip is a good way to show your appreciation. My husband and I gave tips to our DJ, photographers, videographers, day-of coordinator, and venue coordinator. We also gave a gift to our officiant, though he's a friend of ours as opposed to a professional.

If the gratuity was included, then you already paid, I'm sorry but I don't understand why adding tips for things we already paying high dollar for, ex: hair dresser, make up artist ( many add 20-25% gratuity, I got quoted almost $800 for makeup for 4 people) photographer etc, this is not paying severs who get paid very low wages and tips is what makes them survive. I read an article somewhere where it was listing all who you need to tip and it was amounting to about $**** by the end. I don't understand it.
