To get a coordinator or to not get a coordinator?

Lauren, on June 27, 2019 at 1:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi all!

So we booked our venue in Maine and I figured "now I can relax a bit because we have a date" (8/22/20)

NOPE....

NOW we're looking for a catering service that will turn our ceremony site into our reception site, I don't know about you but all of this makes my head spin, Especially because we're trying to keep things on the lighter side for our budget.

We have to decorate ourselves and I didn't consider how expensive it was going to be to rent lights and drapes to decorate a barn. The food alone quotes i'm getting are as much as we paid for the venue! In some aspects I just want to hire a wedding coordinator to handle the decorations and tell people what to do and find the best deals. Has anyone used one before? Is it worth the expense?

A day of coordinator might give you some recommendations as far as vendors, but their job is primary just the day of the wedding. You'd probably have to look into more of a full service wedding planner if you need help finding vendors, which can be pretty pricey.

I got a day of coordinator who required a minimum two hours. So that's what I hired him for! All he did was set up my decor and centerpieces for the reception.

I would get quotes at least. A lot of coordinators we talked to didn't do decor set up, so see what all is included in their prices!

A day of coordinator is so helpful. I paid mine little extra to be more than that aka help me find vendors in the area and she's available via email for any questions I may have. It's been very helpful because I am getting married out of town and don't know anyone in this area. It helps me stay on track, gives me advice when needed, and she recommends the best vendors within my budget. For perspective I am paying her 1800 dollars. And it doesn't seem like much compared to what she's already done for me and is lot even my wedding day yet.

My venue in Maine came with a coordinator and now that I'm getting close, it's been the best thing ever. Where are you getting married?
