To Cricut or Not to Cricut?!

Brittney, on December 5, 2019 at 1:16 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
I'm getting married 8-22-20. I've been looking into DIY invitations and contemplating purchasing a cricut machine to help with that. Anyone have any experience with using a cricut machine for their invitations? Is it worth it? Too troublesome and tedious? I welcome your feedback 😊

I have a Cricut and am extremely experienced with it and use it for my small business. I didn't even consider using it for my invitations. The only thing that would maybe make it worth your while is if you're doing laser cut envelopes, and I'm not sure I would tackle that with little to no experience. Otherwise it would be so time consuming, it would be more reasonable to just pay for them from somewhere else.

I don't own a Cricut, but my florist/decorator does. She used it to create all of the signs for our wedding. We didn't have her create our invitations or anything else using the Cricut. Because they aren't cheap I wouldn't spend the money on one unless you plan on using it for a lot of things and plan on using it for things after the wedding. I would think it would be cheaper to just buy invitations as most Cricuts are a couple hundred dollars. Also, if you don't have experience using it then you would have to practice beforehand which would cost you extra money and time.

I received a cricut as a gift from my fiancé and it has been very helpful with decor. I also made our invites.

Yes I have seen that the invitations are not cheap. And it does look pretty time-consuming. Thank you for your input

It really depends on the type of invitations, where you get them from, how many you need and what if any inserts.

You're welcome! I know putting together the invitations we did were a pain in the butt. We had multiple inserts and ribbon so we had to tie each one and cut some of the inserts because they were folded, but we wanted flat ones. It was very time consuming so I can only imagine how long it would take to make them.

The last thing I want is time-consuming and a pain in the butt. There are so many other things to focus on for the wedding. I am trying to keep it as simple as possible. I really appreciate your response 🥰
