Timelines and vendors

Elycia, on November 28, 2022 at 3:32 PM Posted in Planning 1 2

How did you all go about working out your timelines with your vendors? I will be mainly coordinating my makeup/hair artist and the photographer. Our ceremony starts at 5:30 pm, we are doing photos beforehand and can get into the venue at 10 am. Luckily, the salon is literally next door to the venue so we don't have to coordinate travel time at all.

Who do I reach out to first? Photographer to tell me how much time he'll need before 5:30 for photos, or makeup artist to tell me how long it will take people to get done? We don't really have other vendors. The DJ knows the venue and venue coordinator very well so I dont really have to worry about him. Everything else is either coming from us, the venue, or being brought in by family.

For our wedding, my photographer asked for a timeline so then I reached out to the makeup artist/hair stylist and she was able to give me a timeline for how long it would take hair and makeup then I sent that over to the photographer. From there we were able to coordinate when the photographer should arrive.

I'd start by asking your photographer when they'd need everyone to be ready by. Even if the venue is right next door, I'd bank on a cushion of time just incase hair and makeup runs over, someone forgets something, etc. If you're staging getting ready photos at the venue then no worries, but if you're planning to start pictures from when you're dressed, have your jewelry on, etc. then I'd tack on even more time to account for all of that. Once you have all of that info you can figure out what time you'd need to leave the salon. From there, ask your hair and makeup team when they'd need to start so everyone would be ready on time.
