Thoughts on Partial Planning Packages?

Rose and Brian, on November 30, 2019 at 3:38 PM Posted in Missouri Planning 0 6
TLDR: Have you guys ever hired a partial wedding planner? What are the pros and cons? Would you recommend to do the full package or DOC instead?

A little background about me and fiancé:we’re both juniors in college and have a budget of $15k for our wedding for 80-90 guests in the Kansas City metro area. we’re planning on getting married after our graduation (May 2021). i want to have some control in the wedding planning process but still focus on school. I love planning for events but I don’t think I should stress myself out too much on this.
The partial packaged in our area cost between $2000-$2800. Full planners cost around $3400-$4000. DOC cost around $1500-$1800.
Any recommendations for us?

We're going with a DOC (who will actually come in around March/April for our July 2020 wedding). I personally preferred to handle hiring all of our vendors myself and was able to most of it while working full time and completing my Masters. If you space it out, I don't believe it'll take too much away from your classwork. I would rather save the extra money from a full planner and use it on an upgrade or fun vendor (s'mores bar, live ceremony musician, etc.) for the reception.

I have a partial planner who charged us $1900 which a DOC is included. My biggest concern was the whole design and set up for our big day. Also help in finding rentals and any other small things I might need that I might have forgotten about. As far as vendors, the only thing I needed help in was a florist cause I had no idea where to start.

    Hey there!

This decision is totally dependant on your own time and abilities. As it stands, you still have plenty of time to plan your wedding, even with being in school.

Have you thought about what style of wedding you would like to have?

A great place to start planning your wedding would be to start looking into different venue options that are within your budget and has lots of space for dancing.
