Thoughts on 4 Panel Invitation

SLY, on July 8, 2021 at 1:01 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to get some feedback on invitation layouts. We're using Minted, and really like the 4-Panel layout, which is basically the same layout that a birthday card would be. We'd have the normal information on the front, but the inside would have our accommodation, location, and rsvp info listed as well as our wedding website (RSVP is online). Shockingly, this layout (along with the added cost of return addressing) is almost $100 cheaper than the traditional layout w/ separate details card!

As a guest, would you be fine with that or would you prefer the traditional invitation with the details card separate?

I added some photos for reference! The top is what the 4-Panel invite would look like. The 2nd and 3rd photo are the traditional invite and details card.

I'm thinking of wrapping them with either a vellum jacket & ribbon w/ a wax seal. Or just the ribbon & wax seal. Would love some feedback on that as well!

I think as a guest I'd be a little confused at first and think it's a card, but I don't think there's anything wrong with them. If you're trying to save money, I wouldn't use the vellum jacket. Vellum is pretty expensive.

Thanks for the feedback Jessi. As a guest would you like the fact that it was all on one layout rather than separate pieces to keep up with? Another option would be to just do traditional invites with our wedding website printed on the back, but we don't like that idea because guests won't think to look at the back of the invite. Smiley atonished Plus, it's still more expensive to do it that way...not sure why lol Minted's pricing doesn't make sense to me.

I actually found some on amazon that's very cost efficient so that wouldn't be a problem for us, I was just wondering which would look better!

I think both options are fine. I like the look of the separate detail card better, it feels more formal or special but I do not think anyone will have an issue with the other format.

As a guest, I totally wouldn't mind the 4-panel layout, as long as all the info is there and easy to find/read! A bonus for this layout is that all the info would be together, as opposed to separate cards, where a guest would have to be careful to keep all the cards together so one doesn't get lost/separated from the others.

I definitely like the idea of everything being on one card since I feel like it's so easy to lose the smaller cards. I agree that placing your wedding website on the back probably would be missed.

    Thank you!

Our wedding isn't over the top formal, so I think they would be fine as formality goes! Do you think adding the extra details like the ribbon and wax seal would help make it look nicer?

So there is information on all 4 sides? Trying to understand. As a guest I would be super confused but I wouldn’t decline based on the invite layout. However if you have any old school guests, they will be more inclined to not take to them as well. As long as your wedding is casual, I don’t see a problem with it.

Even if you go with the traditional one piece invites plus inserts, guests do not look on the backside so anything printed there will not be seen.

I think they look nice as is honestly! If your feeling unsure you could add a ribbon for a touch but I wouldn’t think it’s necessary.

Just 3 sides. There's the traditional information on the front, with accommodations, location, and rsvp information on the 2 inside panels. No information on the back. They'd be able to tell it was a card and meant to be open, which once you do, you'd be able to read all of the details on the inside.

Our wedding isn't casual, but it's not black tie either, which is why we though the 4-Panel invites wouldn't be a huge deal. None of our guests are sticklers for tradition and old school looks, so that's not really a worry for us either!

Great, thanks Lauren! I think if anything we'll skip the vellum jackets then. Now that I'm looking at it, I don't think it would make sense to have it especially if we go with the 4-Panel.

I think the 4-panel is fine! I find details cards unnecessary ever since wedding websites became a thing. We just sent out our all-in-one invitations from Minted (where the invite and RSVP card fold into an envelope, we just added our website URL to the bottom of the invite) - no complaints thus far!

Thank you for your feedback! See that's how my FH thinks. "Why do we need a details card when everything is on our website?" lol.

I looked at the all-in-one invites and loved the look of them, but since we're doing online RSVPs I'm not sure why we'd include them. I wish they came with the option to not have them included with it lol because the all-in-ones are so simple!

Did you have online RSVP and just give your guests the option to do either one?? I'm just worried that if we did the all-in-one that it would get confusing for us having 2 types of RSVPs.

Honestly, I don’t think guest care what the invitation looks like at all. They just need the relevant info. I also got my invites from Minted and we went back and forth on belly bands. But at the end of the day no one, except people like us who are in the midst of planning a wedding, are going to be like “OMG They didn’t have belly bands. How tacky!”. Remember these are your friends and family and people who love you and want to celebrate with you. Go with the invite that you prefer! What matters is that you like the the invites and guest get the info they need.

PS: I do agree that people miss info when it’s on the back. We had our wedding website on the back of our STD and no one noticed.

Thanks Ariel! This made me feel much better about making a decision! We'll def. skip the vellum jackets since it's not that necessary, but I'll keep the wax seal and ribbon just because I like the way they look! Smiley shame All of the info as well as our website link will be listed on the inside of the 4-panel invites, so I think we'll go with those since all of the info will be in one spot, and we won't have information on the back of anything!

We have both online and snail mail as RSVP options - no issues thus far, but we also just sent them out. We already have a handful of online RSVPs, though - I do love the speediness of online replies!

Thanks for the insight Marianne! The all-in-ones are nice, but FH told me last night that he'd rather not bother with 2 types of RSVPs lol Smiley tongue so I guess that answers my question! Judging by all of the other feedback, I think we're going to go with the 4-panel invites!

    Thanks for your help!

We’re doing trifold invites, so they basically look like a brochure. The last page is perforated for RSVPs so they can be torn off and popped right in the mail.

Ours will have kind of a ‘we’re having a wedding’ type front, and once you open it it has the traditional wedding info.
I’d attach the one I’d put together, but I’d have to block out so much personal info 😂
This is the layout of them. The back center panel we’re just going to have a picture of us on, all the important stuff is inside.Thoughts on 4 Panel Invitation 4Thoughts on 4 Panel Invitation 5
