The particulars my venue has come up with

Kelsey, on June 4, 2020 at 9:09 AM Posted in Wisconsin Planning 0 7

So last week we got word that my venue was going to begin hosting weddings again. We finally got a list of what they are planning on doing. We live in Wisconsin so most of the decisions here are being decided by individual businesses or the county/municipality/ village. Where we live they have decided not to have any restrictions and allow businesses to decide for themselves. So I thought I would give you all an update on what my venue has decided on doing. Please note that my venue is a hotel with a large ballroom with a max capacity of 800.

1. We are planning to have a buffet, where originally it would be self served. This has changed it will not be spooned/ forked on to the guests plates as they move through the buffet line. The line will also have to maintain 6 feet apart rule.

2. Desserts. All desserts will be served to the guests. We aren't sure how this one will work for us yet, because we are doing a variety of cupcakes and other desserts. But there is another bride with cupcakes having a wedding on June 20th (there 1st one since everything happened) so the venue is going to let us know what seemed to work best in this situation.

3. The dance floor. There will be markers on the dance floor indicating 6 feet apart. BUT, it is up to the guests to maintain this. If they choose to dance closer to one another they can. If they feel safer dancing 6 feet apart they may do so.

4. Tables. They are allowing the couple to decide how they want to do this. If the couple feels that all tables need to be 6 feet apart they have the room and capacity to do so. We are undecided on this we kind of want to get a feel for how things are going to be in September and how many people are going to show up. We are leaning towards doing so just so guests feel more comfortable.

5. Ceremony area. We have 1 section of the ballroom partitioned off for the ceremony area. That can seat 200 comfortably with space to distance themselves. We have 154 invited, I'm figuring around 130 will show up. So I think there is room to spread out if people choose

My venue is allowing us and our guests to do what they feel most comfortable doing. I will probably ask my parents and my FILs what they think about the table situation as well. I am also happy that we get to make these decisions ourselves. We will probably have a much better idea of what is going on after there first wedding on June 20th. I feel for that bride because that will be the first wedding they have there since March. I just wanted to give you all some of things my venue has decided on! And maybe some ideas in case you are still planning for your wedding this fall or summer. I am also going to update my wedding website with some of these particulars so the guests know we are looking out for their safety and health!

Congratulations - I'm so happy things will be able to go on without any huge changes for you!! I also love that you get to decide - that's really flexible of them and reflects great wedding service - focusing on YOU on YOUR day. This all sounds like it will go off really well!

Thank you! I felt relief last week but still had a lot of questions so this was something I was so happy to hear. I have to say I was doubting my venue for a bit because their communication has been hit or miss during this time. But I also understand that there is only 1 person working in this capacity right now when there is normally 3. Plus they were waiting for corporate too. I'm looking more forward to things now compared to before.

I forgot one thing, they are operating at 50% capacity for the venue space so 400. This really didn't apply to us even in the beginning of planning.

It sounds pretty good actually. i think for the idea of serving dessert you can have it operate similarly to the buffet. i went to a wedding last year where the buffet was not self serve and neither were the desserts. everyone went up for desserts same as we did buffet line and it was served to us because there were a variety

That's what I would prefer. This is the only one I'm a little bit not happy with because I want the guests to be able to pick their desserts instead of having them served. But that is something to discuss with them later. Overall, I am very happy that we can continue with the day as planned.

I completely agree. I'm happy that they are really leaving a lot of this up to us. And that there is some flexibility to their rules.
