The Home Stretch...

*Disclaimer: complaining/venting, somewhat graphic*

Four days out from the wedding. A week ago we had to uninvite FMIL (details in my last discussion) and I was hoping that would be the last problem we had to deal with in the rest of our countdown (silly me, right?). ANYWAYS, day before yesterday I was using a paper trimmer with the big blade on the handle that you pull down and slice paper with. Wellllll I suppose I got a little too confident and started moving a little too quickly and next thing I know, I'm screaming and I've just chopped down on my own thumb. I cut of like a half peanut sized piece of thumb off the tip along with about a third of my nail at a diagonal. Bled like crazy, super painful, and now I have the silliest looking bandage on my thumb. Before you ask, yes it was my LEFT hand of course Smiley ups Well it's been healing pretty well for the most part, FH has been patching me up and changing my bandage with antibiotic ointment. I think by Sunday, it might be healed enough for me to put one of my press-on nails over it. I can only hope!

End of last week I was taking care of FH while he had a cold, which he's just now getting over. He's off to a job interview this morning and we're both really excited for this opportunity, so we're super nervous on how it goes. I wake up this morning and you guessed it, now I have a cold. Headache, super tired, stuffy nose, scratchy throat. Already dosed up on some cold medicine and a vitamin C supplement, going to get more meds and some Emergen-C from the pharmacy later today.

My boss is throwing me a bridal shower today at work and I feel so bad that I'm not chipper and bubbly like I should be. But I'm super thankful that she's put all of this together for me, so I'm going to power through and put on a happy face. I planned on working tomorrow, taking off on Friday and all of next week for the honeymoon, but now I'm thinking I should ask her if I can take off tomorrow too so I can rest for a day before finalizing the last of the wedding details.

Again, this was mainly a vent but good vibes are also needed and much appreciated. I hope you brides are having a much better week and don't have these stressors on your wedding week! Smiley heart

Your poor finger! That hurts me just reading it! So sorry that happened! I'm glad it's healing nicely and hope you'll be able to get a press on nail put on before the wedding! Also, I hope you can get your cold under control before the wedding because I know you don't want that on your wedding day. YAY! For a shower, though! I hope your week starts looking up, but at the end of the day Sunday, it'll just matter that you're marrying your FH!

Oh no! I'm so sorry you're going through all this, one day you can look back at your thumb incident and laugh about it I'm sure. Load up on vitamins, drink lots of water and chicken broth and TRY to get some rest which is probably near impossible 4 days out from a wedding!
I just hit the 199 day mark so I cannot imagine all the feelings you have being so close, congrats and enjoy!

You're absolutely right! No matter all of this mess, that's the one thing I'm holding onto. That and spending a week in the mountains, just the two of us Smiley heart

Oh don't you worry, we're already laughing about the thumb incident Smiley xd I was laughing as soon as I was no longer concerned about passing out lol. FH said "I hate to rub salt in the wound, but did you notice it's your left hand?" and we both just busted out laughing.

Trying to get myself as healthy as possible, I don't usually stay sick for too long so I'm staying hopeful! Thank you so much for your kind words Smiley laugh

Oh my gosh! OUUCHSmiley cry . I can only imagine how that felt. Super sorry! It seems like you are doing a great job at staying positive through this. You get to marry the man of your dreams this weekend and that's very exciting.

My MOH has a super big interview today and now I'm wondering about all the people in the world having big interviews lol. Anyways, good luck to your FH today, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that nothing else "eventful" happens before the big day!

Oh no! Your poor thumb - hopefully it heals quickly.

And one of my biggest worries is getting sick right before the wedding - definitely ask for tomorrow off!! I would just get as much rest as you can, drink lots of water, get some juice/vitamin c, some medicine, and eat some brothy soup! Good luck - wishing you quick health and good thoughts for your FH's interview!
