The But of a venue

We ran into that a little bit when looking at venues. I think it came down to us figuring out if we were OK with the conditions that came with the venue. What issues are you running into? What types of venues are you looking for?

The other is the type of place we are looking for but they're incredibly picky. They want us to use their preferred caterers, go through them for open bar which is horribly expensive and then renting tables and chairs through them is required which would add a whole grand to their fees.

View Quoted Comment Some of those things can be common with venues - many (but not all) require that you use their caterer/bar, which unfortunately does usually add up in cost. I am surprised that they are requiring you to rent their tables and chairs though, I would have thought that those would come with the venue. You could try negotiating with them! Either for them to waive the rental fees, or a lower per person cost for open bar, etc. Is there a general area in Michigan you're looking for a venue at? I might have other suggestions depending on the area.

I definitely found this as well! I think it's tough because your wedding venue is the first thing you book and it's a large part of your budget, so you really want something perfect! In my venue search every place (and even the different rooms at the same property) had their pros and cons and was something we had to weigh out!
