Thailand or Bali worth it?

Kaylee, on July 26, 2018 at 12:36 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

Me and my fiancé want to do something different besides Caribbean islands for our honeymoon (we've been to some of the islands already). We are looking at Thailand or Bali. We are honeymooning in December and going the 15th-23rd. We would be IN Thailand/Bali for 6 nights after flights are factored in. We will be spending a while on the plane, so trying to decide if it's worth it for 6 days. Any advice/help?! Open to other suggestions as well. Wanting something with culture, and a place we can relax and go adventure a couple of days. Also we can get a super beautiful place to stay for cheaper in Thailand/Bali. A place like that in the Caribbean is like 3x as much! Thank you in advance!!

It's definitely worth it. The flight is long but you get more "bang for your buck" by going to Thailand/Bali. Are you going to both Thailand AND Bali or just one. For 6 nights, I would only go to one.

Both are great honeymoon spots that are gorgeous and affordable.

So we considered Thailand as a honeymoon option along with Greece and Fiji. We priced out everything for a nine night stay. I can’t speak for Bali but this is what it ultimately came down to. Greece was going to be a little too expensive because we would be going peak season. We also figured we could make it there at a later date when we couldn’t take as much time off because it’s closer.

Once it was between Fiji and Thailand we kind of did a pros and cons list. Same with the Caribbean things are just more expensive in Fiji. But it’s a pretty developed country, they speak English, and it’s smaller. We decided on Fiji for our honeymoon because we wanted some place exotic but also just wanted to relax. In Thailand we would have felt the need to see as much as possible and likely would have been on the go the whole time.

I guess it it depends on the kind of honeymoon you want. If you want more adventure I think Thailand would be great but if you want to be more relaxed maybe pick something else.

Okay thank you! I agree about that with Thailand. And being there only 6 days doesn't leave a ton of room for all of the adventure. We will look into Fiji too!! Thank you!

Whether you go to Thailand or Bali, I suggest choosing a particular destination. For example, if you go to Thailand, will you be going to Bangkok or will you be going to Phuket or the Phi Phi Islands? I think you can definitely relax and explore in 6 days but you should definitely plan.

Another thing to keep in mind is will you be staying at a resort? If so, these places usually offer excursions or adventures, similar to in the Caribbean.

If you go to Thailand, I definitely suggest going to the Phi Phi Islands and if you go to Bali, hike Mount Batur! My friend went and it looked absolutely gorgeous.

If we could afford it, we'd totally do Bali or Tahiti. But realistically, we have around $5,000 to spend, not $10,000. If you can afford those, I'd totally do them!

Where are y'all considering going to? We don't have a specific budget yet, just exploring options. But don't want to spend a ton either!

I think we are going to go to Hawaii, and go to 2 islands for 7 days total! So we will spend 2 days traveling quite a bit, but not as much as going somewhere abroad. Then we may be able to extend to 8-9 days too.

I feel like 6 days in Thailand is super rushed. There’s sooooo much to do there. For me I personally wouldn’t fly that long for less than a week stay but you have to do what works for you. Do you mind saying where you are flying out from? Then maybe I can suggest some locations

Anywhere in Asia is going to be a long flight so if you don’t go with Asia. My suggestions are maybe Central America, South America (just stay away from Venezuela) for the tropical aspect but not necessarily the island vibe. If you’re ok with colder weather for your honeymoon a European trip?

ou can find some countries that have fun things but not so heavily “touristy” aka there is a thousand things to be seen lol. This way you don’t feel like you are missing out or anything. You can have two-three days of sightseeing/adventure/etc and then the other 3 relaxing on a beach/spa/poolside/romantic dinner or brunch etc.

Bali and Singapore I think you would be fine with 6 days but it’s just the flight time that would have me like no I absolutely need to do two weeks to feel like the flight was worth it HA. I would visit a couple countries during those two weeks.

Thank you so much!! After thinking about it a ton, Bali may be something we do when we have more time. I think we are doing a Sandals resort at a Caribbean island we haven't been to. I think we are doing Sandals in Barbados Smiley smile

Sounds nice!! Sandals is uber romantic and Barbados def doesn’t have tons of things to do so you can have fun and also relax. Good luck and have a blast!!
