Texas Summer Wedding

Michaela, on May 14, 2021 at 11:47 AM Posted in Texas Planning 0 7

We had to postpone our wedding due to COVID and family issues from April of this year to sometime next year and I am trying to pick a date that isn't too far away from now but I also still have time to finish planning and change some things. It gets really hot here during spring to summer and we can't do June because of previously planned events. Would July be too hot and I was thinking May because it is almost an exact year from now but I can't decide because both months are very hot in Texas and because my fiances birthday is in May and would it be weird to have it near his birthday. Also, has anyone else done their own flowers? I really don't feel like paying $2,000 to $3,500 for my flowers including centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres and any DIY wedding advice would be appreciated.

If you’re doing your wedding outside or somewhere not air conditioned I would not do July at all. July in Texas is just miserable if you’re outdoors.

I think having it in May wouldn't be weird regarding the birthday thing. Maybe don't schedule it for his actual birthday, but I don't see why the month should be off limits. Is April an option for next year? I don't know much about Texas weather, so I can't speak to that piece.

May would definitely be better than July. If it’s like this year, may has been pretty mild.

For flowers, check out HEB if you have one by you. They do wedding flowers and cakes. I’ve used their flower services before, it has to be one with a Blooms service which you can find online, but they turned out amazing. Many will even deliver!

I am getting married July 2nd of 2022 in Texas and I really struggled with the same thing. We both work in education, so summer was just really the best time for us. We ultimately just looked at venues with indoor ceremony options and ended up finding one we really liked! We actually found two, and had a hard time choosing between them. So if you go with a month like July, definitely indoors! But May is also a really great month to get married in, not too hot yet 😊 If May had been an option for us, we definitely would have chosen May 😂
