Sweetheart Table or Head Table?

Lisa, on March 20, 2024 at 12:21 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 176
Which seating arrangement are you choosing for your wedding: a sweetheart table (just you and your new spouse) or a head table (you, your new spouse, and wedding party members)? Or maybe even a different option altogether? Share what you're choosing for your reception seating arrangements!

Neither! We're planning to just sit amongst our guests. Our wedding is pretty small and casual with picnic tables so that made the most sense for us.

If we were having a larger, more traditional wedding I'd definitely be pushing for a sweetheart table!

Our venue does a sweetheart table for every wedding by default. We figured it was our best chance to get a moment to actually eat. The seating arrangements in our families are complicated (large groups of people who can't be split up), so I don't think we could have made a head table work anyway. We put lots of flowers and décor on the table and guests ended up using it kind of like a photo booth.

We went with option C, neither. 😆 We reserved two tables for bridal party and close family, but the tables weren’t at the front or in any way marked as a head table. For toasts, our DOC pulled two chairs up front for us to sit in.

Neither. We did all tables of 8-10 and sat with our siblings. I did not want a huge table, or to have to decide between friends, and don’t really care for sweetheart tables.

My husband and I did a sweetheart table for a similar reason - I thought it'd allow us a moment to eat. Oddly enough, I still didn't really eat, though that was because we got interrupted during dinner to cut the cake, and when we got back to our table, the wait staff had cleared my plate. I definitely don't regret doing a sweetheart table though. Awesome that your table ended up doubling as a photo booth background!

That sounds like a neat arrangement! Awesome that you sat with friends and family! One of my friends did something kind of similar for her wedding - she had two head tables, where wedding party and their family members all sat. Those tables were mixed in among the rest of the tables, instead of being at the very front of the room. It worked out pretty well!

Hello. I'm thinking about choosing the sweetheart table to allow the wedding party to sit with their families.

I am doing a sweetheart table. That way we can have our fist meal and talk about how they feel the ceremony went

We went with a king’s table. We see each other all the time and share meals, but our loved ones live far away and our attendants are/were not local either so we wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Sitting with them made it easier to make sure to eat.

We're doing a head table as it feels more inclusive to us. But the choice is yours.

We are opting to have a sweetheart table, then a seating arrangement depending on who is able to come. I am the type that I would rather have the people in my wedding sitting with who they brought.

    Hi,

The way the setup is at the venue, me and the groom will be seated on the stage ( only enough room for one table) and the bridal party will be seated on the floor in front of us.
