Super embarrassing mishaps

Chandra, on July 16, 2019 at 1:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Aw man you guys I royally screwed up.
My grandma messaged me yesterday to let me know my Aunt came to her house to visit and saw our thank you card. My aunt then mentioned she still hadn't gotten hers. I mailed them 3 weeks ago, so weird that it hasnt come.
I was already feeling really bad because I didnt see she had gotten us a gift for like a month. We had them shipped to the inlaws house and I didnt really keep an eye on the registry once invites were mailed. And at the wedding my grandma had mentioned to us that my aunt wasnt sure if we had gotten it since they didnt get a thank you yet.
I looked into it and remained one today.
THE ADDRESS WAS WRONG. I was so mad at myseld. It was the one I used for the invites too and I know she had received that because we got the RSVP card back! So that's confusing but ugh...still so embarrassed now.

So for all you future brides...
SEND THOSE THANK YOUS IMMEDIATELY
and TRIPLE CHECK ADDRESSES!

That stinks. Due to my lovely FH not being super close to his family, most of my save the dates and invites went to randos. I had to resend a few invites to his VIPs with the correct addresses. Most of his family hasn't RSVP'd and I'm pretty sure its because he had 3 yr old addresses.

She got the invite at the address but not the thank you? That's not exactly your fault.

I'm glad my fiance isnt the only one who doesnt know his family. We got a list from his mom.
This happens to be the same list that my FSIL&FBIL used last year when they got married. But they lost their save the dates, and sent them out with their invitations... and didnt require anyone to RSVP. 🤦‍♀️
We may have a similar return mail situation in the coming weeks.

Maybe she had mailing address forwarding when you sent the invites, but it expired by the time you sent the thank you note? Either way, you are human and you took care of it.

I know his list is 3 yrs old from his cousin's wedding. I had the wrong address from his mom, had to send her two, and she ended up getting both Smiley ups There's no telling how much I've wasted on postage. Mind you, his family lives in Canada so I had to put 2 stamps each.

You don't know unless they tell you lol. Most people won't mention a thank you card. I sent mine out very quickly so a lot of people commented on getting theirs. It was an honest mistake. I'm sure she will understand!

We had to get addresses from my FH's mom too! We sent STDs and 3 came back as non-deliverable. His mom just said to take them off the guest list. So hopefully little to no issues when it's time to send invitations. (:

Our situation is kind of the same. First off it was hard enough getting addresses from him cause he just forgets even though i ask every day! Then 2 of the save the dates were wrong, 1 came back and the second was for his dad who said he never got one so hopefully the actual invites will go the right places. He too isnt very close to his family which made it more difficult for him to reach out to them for their correct addresses

I have 36 invites to send out, he's got 46. I'm kinda hoping to have one or two be undeliverable and be able to squeeze some of my "hope to invite" list in.

Don't beat yourself about it. Trust me. You sent them out, and you're fixing the problem. That's all you can do.

Don't stress it. You sent her a thank you! You couldn't predict her address would change. It's good your grandma let you know, but i wouldn't stress it!
