Suggestions for a Honeymoon in Georgia (or Sc)

Lindsey, on January 3, 2021 at 6:34 PM Posted in Georgia Planning 0 12
We weren’t planning on doing any type of honeymoon because we have young children but our families have kindly urged us to at least get away somewhere for the weekend. We live in Georgia right on the edge of South Carolina so that’s also an option. We were thinking something kind of laid back and more secluded because of the unknowns of COVID right now and what might be closed (May this year). I’m hoping someone knows of a cool spot!

I recommend checking out Charleston or Hilton head Island.

You should check out Gatlinburg, TN! Lots to do but also the kind of vacation where you can just relax and hide out in your cabin the whole time, too. I also echo Savannah if you have not already been there - very fun and romantic.

Look into Chateau Elan, a winery and resort about an hour outside of Atlanta. I've never been, but always wanted to go. I've heard great things about it though. The other suggestions by the previous posters are all good options too!

I am obsessed with Charleston! I haven’t been since Covid hit, but we love: Folly Beach, the Angel Oak Tree, Rainbow Row/the Pineapple fountain, and Magnolia Plantation.

We’re also huge foodies and there are so many amazing restaurants there! Happy to give food recs if anyone is interested!

That's where my fiance is from too! (Depending on which part of the state you're in) I'd say go for the north GA mountains, that's where we had our bach trip and it was so much fun. Lots of hiking, secluded cabins, can pick peaches in the summer and apples in the fall, there are lots of lakes, etc.

I would also suggest a cabin at Hunting Island State Park in SC, or Jekyll Island in GA.

    I second HHI.

Parts can be very secluded, it's geared more towards chill than night-life (though there's some night-life), and it's really close.

We live in Charleston & decided on Asheville for a mountain honeymoon. I would recommend Charleston (AirBnB on the beach sounds nice) or Savannah as others mentioned

10/10 recommend Savannah! We’re not going there for our honeymoon, but I grew up vacationing there and I’ve always loved it! Super low key and fun
