Stuffed animals at wedding? What's the point of a wedding?

Joey, on January 24, 2021 at 10:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

So me and my fiancé have collected a lot of stuffed animals over time. I am not sure I would ever do it but, they each have personalities and likes and dislikes to us. Would it be crazy to have a table just seated with stuffed animals with books to boost them?

I know I can have a few on a chair in the front row of the ceremony holding the picture for those who could not be here (like my mom) I know a lot of judgement would come from this idea. People who really know me know I adore my stuffed animals as much as people.

We also collect seal plushies so a tamer idea could be to place/hide them around the venue with a little game of see how many seals you notice. If we did in fact have any at our wedding it would probably be the more tight knit empowered wedding that doesn't have the people we don't actually like invited.

What is the true point of a wedding? To please all the old grand families and cousins we may not like in this big awkward event or to have it be weird and potentially perfect for us but with years of backlash?

To be fair we will probably have an outdoor wedding which will negate stuffed animals altogether.

It's quirky and cute and you! If you can afford the extra seating, do it.

Thanks y'all for being so supportive about the idea! I would choose ones that wouldn't clash with theming colors.

I think that’s such a cute idea. My godmother is the same way, and the backseat of her car is full with her stuffed animal “babies.” For those people who know you, they wouldn’t be surprised and probably wouldn’t expect anything different. It’s your day so you get do what you want — regardless what others may think.

I actually really love your idea of having them at a table holding pictures in memory of those who passed and couldn’t make it. I think that’s a really sweet touch and shows your personality!

Have the wedding you want— your opinions and feelings are what matters!

THAT said, everything in a wedding costs money , from tables to chairs to space. So personally I couldn’t see that being worthwhile to me (my tables cost about $10 each and chairs about 4.25$ each so it would have cost us an extra $50 for that set up!). We also had limited space in our venue, so for us that would’ve meant subtracting guests to make way for the animals. But if you have all the space and all the money, whatever!
I like the idea of little creatures tucked away all around in cute places though! To each their own with what they want from their wedding, but to me, less is always more— a little hint goes a long way!
I can’t imagine actual backlash from doing things your way. The people you should share your big day with should be the ones who know and love you!

Your right everything does cost money! I think I would definitely have to do the math, but the seats are seats I would have paid for happily if the assigned people where still around. I wouldn't have to feed them which can be the real bank breaker. Smiley winking I know a couple of weddings I went to they had a spare table anyways incase non RSVPs showed up.

To answer your question at the bottom. You and your fiancé’s wedding, do you guys! I love the idea of them holding pictures of loved ones and altho the table with them is not something I would personally do due to cost reasons, but I truly believe this day is all about the couple and if you like the idea I say go for it! I’ve slowly learned through this planning process if your guest doesn’t like it then don’t have to go but I doubt anyone would be upset with your ideas. If they are, they r super petty to let stuffed animals upset them haha

It sounds cute and really reflective of you two as a couple. Another idea (if you don't want to set up an extra table for them) is to use the stuffed animals as your table numbers! You could have the name and picture of each animal on a seating chart, and have the actual stuffed animal and a short bio (since you said they all have individual personalities) and how they were added to your collection. I think that could be really cute and creative, but since you said you consider them to be people I can also understand why you wouldn't go that route. Either way, I say do what you want to do and let people think what they want. When they're footing the bill, their opinions matter a bit - otherwise, they are guests and they can appreciate the opportunity to be invited to such a personal and unique event.

I do like the idea of using them a table numbers if I pick more social stuffed animal's for the job. I would just have to figure out how that goes with centerpieces and the colors. I am worried it might tip into baby shower some how though. Thank for the thought Katie :3
