Strapless dress

Faith, on March 20, 2024 at 3:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hello. I am getting married in October. I bought my dress offline and it's strapless with a corset back. I have tried on a very similar dress, but when I tried it on I was wearing a bra. I am a plus size woman with a large chest. I am having the hardest time finding a strapless bra. I've been told with the corset back I should be okay and everything will stay in place. I am still a little concerned. I was hoping to find a bra before my dress arrives for fitting. Any suggestions.

A strapless bra negates the purpose of a corset back. Especially if there is any open space behind the lacing. Contrary to popular belief, sewn in cups don’t provide any support or lift and only pad the nipples. In your case, look into boob tape similar to Goodlines.com

I’m a street size 14 with a 36H chest, and my dress was strapless with a corset back. Once the dress was fitted to me correctly, I didn’t need a bra and didn’t wear one on the day. There were a few times, especially as the evening carried on, that I had to pull it up a bit, but even less than I’ve had to do with strapless bras whenever I’ve worn them.

    With a well-fitted corset, you don’t need a bra.

Thank you. This is my first time wearing something strapless. I'm a little nervous.

You might be fine without a strapless bra, especially if the dress feels secure when you tried it on with a regular bra. If you still want a strapless bra, look for one with good support and maybe silicone lining to stay in place. You could also ask your seamstress for advice at your fitting.

I have a large chest and feel uncomfortable braless, even if the dress supports it. They're hard to find but Wacoal and Dominique have some options. I usually go with longline strapless bras because you can get a lower back and provide more support than a normal strapless bra... I'm attempting boob tape for engagement photos but we'll see! Good luck!

I'm looking into boob tape as well. My dress should be here by the end of the month so we will see what happens. Good luck with your engagement photo shoot and wedding

I wore a long line strapless Bra. Booby tape didn't work to well for me.

Whew. Thank you. My fitting is Saturday. I have sewn in cups but was told to purchase a strapless/ backless bra. I have looked online and all of them will arrive after Saturday. I will try boob tape.
