St Lucia --- Sandals all inclusive vs. staying at other resorts??

Angel, on February 24, 2016 at 11:15 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

Highly considering St. Lucia for our honeymoon, I would like to know if anyone has stayed anywhere that wasn't a Sandals resort? If so, where? and do you recommend it?

Thanks!

Other resorts!!! DH and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon last month and did half of the trip at Ti Kaye Resort and the other half at a vacation club on Marigot Bay. Both were so perfect because they weren't overwhelmingly packed like a huge resort - Ti Kaye only had ~30 houses and Marigot Bay was an entire private home to yourself!

Definitely other resorts. My best friend went to Jamaica and stayed at a US based resort - all inclusive - and never left the premises. Why go all that way to not enjoy the local culture and customs? Personally, I think it's a waste of money if you stay on an all-inclusive US based resort.

My mom is in St. Lucia right now. She keeps sending me pictures, it looks beautiful.

She did say that the people do complain of the waves "crashing" which is not a big deal to us, because we're from California so that is a normal sound.

I am going to Ochi at the end of April, so i don't have any advice for you yet, but my mom has also been there once before a few years ago and just booked her second trip there next year. I think its safe to say its her favorite place so far (she goes to the Caribbean every year)

I REALLY wanted to stay at Anse Chastanet, but "sadly" we decided to go to Asia instead. It would be my top pick for St. Lucia though.

No advice on St. Lucia, though I did just get back from Sandals Ochi in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. DH and I loved it!!! It was beautiful...definitely do the Butler villa if you pick Sandals. One PP mentioned not being able to leave the resort when it's US based. At Sandals you definitely could leave and come back, they have all sorts of excursions to the various tourist hot spots as well. In Jamaica I had no desire to leave the resort...it's a very run down country, which is incredibly said because it's beautiful and the people are incredibly friendly.

Also for Sandals they have an AMAZING rewards program and if you get their credit card there's all sorts of perks and discounts. We booked to go back the same time next year for 7 nights at the same resort and with the discounts are saving $1300 from what we paid this time around. Everything is exactly the same.

    Hope this helps!! Happy honeymoon!
