St.Lucia Honeymoon

SEF, on January 24, 2017 at 7:01 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 24

Hi ladies and gents! I am considering booking St.Lucia for our honeymoon but before I do I thought I would ask and see what others thought of the island. How were the beaches? Does anyone have any resort recommendations? Thanks!

We went to St. Lucia 2 years ago and LOVED the beaches, the people, the weather, etc. We stayed at Coconut Bay Beach Resort which was all-inclusive (not adult only but has adult only pools). The resort was beautiful. Our only complaint was that we wished there was more of a crowd closer to our age so we could enjoy the night life a little more. We found the crowd to be a bit on the older side and they weren't much to work with if you were looking for that little bit of party atmosphere at night (we aren't party animals but enjoy a little bit of excitement lol). This is totally just preference though and definitely might not be the norm there. Maybe that week was just booked by older/less-adventurous(?) couples by chance.

The food was pretty good especially considering it was an all-inclusive.

Here are some other things we loved:

    - horseback riding

    - the pool with the lazy river

    - visiting the active volcano and taking a mud-bath in the sulphur springs

    - the crepe station (at the buffet)

    - the breathtaking mountainous views over the ocean

    - the BBQ dinner set-up they did at the pool one night. Seriously amazing

    - drinks mixed in coconuts (in the hotel)

It was a really amazing trip. If I think of anything else, I'll edit!

We did a day pass at Rendezvous a couple months ago and loved it there! It's so quiet & relaxing, and the food was great. They have a sister resort called BodyHoliday, and that one includes daily spa treatments- if we honeymoon in St Lucia we would probably stay at BodyHoliday and then spend a few afternoons at Rendezvous.

@Melanie. The beaches are very nice. At Coconut Bay, there was a lot of grassy area by the beach. When I went, the beaches were not as clear as the beaches in Mexico or DR (if you've ever been to either) and the sand isn't as light either. It is still really nice though, and I really liked going out on the boat to snorkel...you get taken to the nicest parts of the beaches that way around the island. Keep in mine that this also could have been circumstantial due to the weather at different times of the year.

We are doing St Lucia and settled on Sandals Regency La Toc based on recommendations from multiple friends who have been. We like the Sandals idea b/c

    1- all inclusive

    2- no kids

3- you can jump between the 3 resorts they have on the island

All of our friends who have been say the beaches are great, staff is friendly, and they had a wonderful time.... Is it sad I almost want to skip the wedding and go right to the honeymoon?

We stayed at Ti Kaye in St. Lucia and loved it. It was a bit more of a secluded boutique hotel than some of the other resorts, but the beach was beautiful and never crowded and we felt like the rooms were way nicer than the Sandals we'd stayed at in the past. The crowd was mixed, some younger honeymooners as well as older couples. The snorkelling is great and you could swim out to it. Most of the other well known resorts sent snorkel trips to the reef there. Not much of a party scene and excursions were limited, but it was so relaxing!

Here are a few recommendations for all you couples following this thread. Smiley smile

St Lucia is an awesome island. What we call the Hawaii of the Caribbean since it is very lush and tropical. Keep in mind that St Lucia is a volcanic island, hence very few white sand beaches, but the black or silver sand is beautiful in my opinion. If you want romance and intimacy without a lot of crowds and want a unique room, then TiKaye is my first choice, like Amanda said and the beach and the snorkeling/diving is best on that side of the island. This is where all the resorts take their guests for their snorkel trips. Other resorts with awesome and unique rooms is the Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain. The rooms are open air with only three walls and the view of the ocean and Pitons are unobstructed and amazing. Although both properties are built into the side of a mountain, you will need to take a shuttle down to the beach or take the brisk walk. But remember the hike back up is what will get you Smiley smile just saying.

Now, my new favorite and first choice is the Hideaway at Royalton. Even though the Royalton is a family property, the Hideaway is the adults only side of this resort. This property is a trust chain of mine and I know that in a few weeks when it opens that it will meet all my expectations that I have found in Jamaica and in the Riviera Maya and it is well priced with great food and service.

Don't want to keep this post too long, but some of my other favorite recommendations are the Calabash and the Rendevous. Sandals would be my last choice, simply and honestly because, in my opinion, they are very over priced.

AKCouple gave you a lot of great ideas on where to go. I especially love the drive through volcano and the locals say that the sulphur springs will take 10 years off your life. So I'm always up for that! Of course the Fish Fry is always a great time, if you like street parties.

Hope this helped a little and Happy Honeymooning!

We went to St. Lucia for 3 days in October and loved it!! We stayed at Sugar Beach, right in between the pitons. It is so natural beautiful, Sugar Beach has a great beach (where they've brought in white sand), and it was just incredibly relaxing. Where we stayed on the island we found it a little harder to get around (the hotel staff will set up anything for you, but you do have to coordinate and pay $$&dollarSmiley winking, so we stayed mostly on the resort property the entire time.

We got a luxury villa and it was the most insanely nice "room" we've ever stayed in!

We have it narrowed down to either Coconut Bay or the Hideaway by Royalton. For a little bit more money we can get a swim up suite at the Hideaway which I think would be worth it, the only downfall is that it's a new resort so there may be some hiccups and there aren't any reviews.

SEF, I know and trust the Royalton properties. Since they are opening next month, you should not worry about there being any after opening issues since you are getting married in August. You should be good to go. Remember, if you are looking for an adults only resort, the Hideaway is adjacent to the Royalton. Although, the Hideaway is for adults only, you will still see children roaming around the Royalton property since you do have access there. I personally would not have a problem recommending the Hideaway to you at this time.

We are doing Sandals Grande St Lucia. I debated for months and always came back to it. Luxury, all inclusive, adults only, highly rated.
