Spa day before or after wedding?

Connie, on July 21, 2022 at 10:45 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 12
Is it better to have a spa day before or after the wedding? Before - would be nice to have a facial done in prep for wedding and also can relax with an anti-stress massage. After - relax because all the planning is finally over and begin honeymoon relaxation period?

I don’t think you could go wrong with either honestly. In my personal opinion I’d rather do it after once all the celebrating is over. You’d be able to relax entirely. If you do it before you can still relax, but you still deal with the day off stresses as well. Either one would be fine.

I'm doing mine with my fiance two days before the wedding. After the wedding, I want to be able to take my time at brunch and reflecting on the day with friends and family.

Talk with your MUA, if you're having one. Certain facials shouldn't be done within a week or two of the day because your face might be irritated. Consider two visits: facial a week or so before, and massages a day or so after the wedding. You could even book a couples' massage at a spa wherever you'll be honeymooning or staycationing.

If you do it right before just make sure you don't do or put anything new on your face. You don't want to have a reaction to a facial but a massage and nail treatment would be fun before. A few days before the wedding I m going to the spa with my mother in law, mom, some aunts, my fiancé's brothers girlfriends, and a few bridal party members who want to come for massages and mani & pedis. Some people may get facials but I will not be.

I say a week before just in case you have a reaction to the facial... or do it after!

The last time I went to a spa to get a massage I caught the flu! And was sick for a week. This was like 5 years ago, precovid. It could have been a coincidence but I think the sauna and public bathroom and close proximity to the masseuse contributed to me getting sick. Just be careful!

Hi Connie. I see you have a year before your wedding. Some articles say you should get facials every month for a year which I think is unnecessary and costly. I think 1 or 2 is fine with the latest maybe a month before wedding date just in case one of you has an outbreak after (like my spouse). Any botox or microblading (eyebrows) best 1.5 -2 months out for healing. As for couples massages, anytime is good, but probably best before stressful family arrive in town.

Definitely try anything new WAY before the wedding to see how you react. Also to Bird's point, it may be better to avoid being out and about before the wedding as much as possible just to avoid coming into contact with anything (and potentially spreading it to guests).

Good point! I’ll just stick to my usual facial lady who I’ve been going to every 6 weeks for the past 3 years and just do a massage before and after my wedding in Italy
