Social anxiety tips

Erin, on May 7, 2022 at 8:43 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 5
Any brides or newlyweds on here with social anxiety that upsets your stomach? That’s what usually happens for me in social situations and I’m nervous about it happening on the wedding day. It happened to my sister on hers and she ended up getting sick and I really don’t want that to happen. Any tips anyone might have would be much appreciated!

I'm the same way! I'm scared that I'm not going to be smiling in any of my wedding photos. I wanted to elope, and my fiancé and family basically forced a wedding, and our families are both large so we're having a not-so-small wedding. I don't have any tips, but definitely want to hear from others too.

I’m so glad you asked this!! So I have anxiety and IBS, not sure which triggers the other. I saw a NEW gastroenterologist just under a year ago who was open to hearing about my struggles for 15+ years. He prescribed me Rifaxamin. 10 months later, I am NORMAL still!! It’s worth looking into. I would highly recommend but consult with your doctor!

I should also add that this is not nausea related, but the other issue. I also take alprazolam .25 mg as needed. It’s a godsend.

If possible, I would avoid trying new medications as some times they can have long term effects on your health/side effects if you’re not used to them. (Always consult a physician.)
Also in healthcare, you can seek out a therapist for your anxiety and work with them on stress/anxiety coping mechanisms. Highly recommend finding one you like and working with them to recognize triggers and work through them. Stress/anxiety isn’t good on your organs- it can manifest as nausea, acid reflux, and many other things.
Talk to your fiancé about eloping with parents/siblings in attendance and then do your big wedding for everyone! I eloped last year and I’m so glad I did because it has made big wedding planning that much easier.
