Slim Down Team Work!

Samantha, on August 31, 2021 at 2:43 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 6 233
Any brides who want to team up and help each other slim down for their gown with me? I don't have social media, there aren't a lot of gym classes near me and I'm having trouble staying motivated on my own to lose the last 30 pounds before my December wedding!

I'm in! I want to lose 20 pounds until my final fitting in December, although I guess 15 would be all right as well. I cancelled my gym membership during covid and find it hard to motivate myself to work out at home, and working from home has me eating way to much all day long.

    Yay! 😺
How many days per week do you workout? When I'm motivated, I workout 3-4 times per week. Diet is a huge problem for me because I love all bad things like cheese, butter, bread, potatoes, CARBS lol. I told myself today is it and to crack down again on diet since you can't outwork a bad diet.

I try to workout 3-4 times a week as well, but often work gets in the way and I come home late or . I try to motivate myself to do at least a 15-20 min training, but not always. But diet really makes all the difference. I find that I can "cheat" with unhealthy meals by eating half the normal portion, because if I deny myself something for too long I will at some point just break and binge on it (like BREAD).
Do you count calories or makros?

Counting calories and macros doesn't work for me. I tried it a few years ago and was miserable. I've been intermittent fasting 16:8 and lost 4 pounds last month but gained it all back in 2 days due to Mexican food and going out for my birthday (oops). I try and workout first thing in the morning so I burn more calories throughout the day. I'm in nursing school now so my workout days will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, *maybe* Thursday or Friday, but if those two maybe days don't work it's definitely Saturday.

Do yall want to do a check in every other day, twice a week, once a week? We could all post about when and what our workout was (either vague or in detail), our meals, craving struggles, and anything else Smiley smile Thoughts?

How about twice a week? Every day would be a bit of an overkill... Although I wouldn't mind checking in after a particularly good or bad day.

Yes Im checking in regularly would help!! I stayed within my goal today yay!!! And talking about cravings would help and talk each other off the ledge lol. Monday will be a challenge for me because I have a get together with friends and we are having a cooking competition. Tomorrow my goal is to get back into daily walks. FH and I were doing them regularly but it got insanely hot and its was just miserable.

That's awesome you stayed within your goal!! Please don't stress about Monday. It's one day. It isn't realistic to swear off such things and deprive yourself. Don't go completely off the cliff but allow yourself to indulge without beating yourself up about it. It's too hot for me to run outside (I moved to New England from Alaska and haven't acclimated yet) so I feel you! I've also misplaced my headphones. Do you have gym equipment or anything?

I try not to stress about Monday but I have a serious sweet tooth and its hard sometimes to keep it under control. We do have a treadmill but I had a super labor intensive job before and am paying the price now and my hips are an issue so I can walk all day long fine but super repetitive motions really mess my hips up, so with the treadmill not allowing me to speed up/slow down as quickly as I need to I have been careful with it. We live in Ohio and the last 2 weeks it was high 90s with real feels being over 100 and we dont have ac so really not feeling working out in that weather lol. What is your favorite work out?

What's your dish for the cooking competition? I don't know how you're surviving without AC! I have a window unit in every room here lol. My favorite workout is running. It takes me about 2 miles to get my breathing down so I'm not dying, but once I hit my runner's high it's incredible! I'll suffer with a treadmill if I have to but my pace changes to whatever song I'm listening to. It's annoying to have to constantly adjust the speed. What's your favorite workout?

We can make multiple dishes so I am taking a white turkey chili, a pumpkin pecan bread, and a peanut butter rice krispie treat. I think the only reason Ive survived is because I used to work outside year round. We do have a window unit in the master bedroom and keep the door closed to keep it cool in there. My FH works 3rd shift so he sleeps during the day so I cant go in there during the hottest part of the day like I want to because I will wake him up. I agree music helps and definitely changes your pace! Currently my most consistent workout is walks with our dog, usually 2+ miles. Im trying to add some sit up in there because I would like to get rid of my love handles.

All of those dishes sounds delicious!! I'd try in and outs, elbow to knee alternates, and planks for love handles. I'll do 3 sets of 15-20 on days I workout and I've seen a difference. I weighed myself today and I'm 174.4. On August 1st I was 178, so intermittent fasting and working out actually helps 😹. According to my FitBit I have 24.4 pounds to lose until I'm at my goal weight. Better than the 198.2 pounds I started off with a few months ago!

Thats great progress!!! I will try doing those exercises thanks for the tip! I joined noom June 28th and so far just from changing what and how I eat Ive got from 190 to 179. I really like their program because I still get to eat anythinf I want but it teaches you about portion control and why you crave things and how to work through those. They did discuss different types fasting with their programs but I dont feel like that will work for me. I am more of someone who "snacks " during the day and eats one full meal a day. I typically eat fruit for "breakfast" then usually a container of yogurt for lunch. Dinner varies greatly. My FH works 7pm to 530am and I work 3am to noon so during the week i usually only get to see him from 3pm to 630pm so anything that we want to get done during the week together has to be done within that time period. We have been using youtube videos to learn/practice our first dance lol.

I had my green tea before class and salad for lunch, so I'm doing well so far! I have a ton of homework so I won't be hitting the gym today. How's your day going? Smiley smile

I went to a work event this evening and they had an ice cream bar 😭 so a total fail for me. But now I'm considering an ice cream bar for our wedding. 🐷

An ice cream bar sounds super tasty!! I think that's super creative for a wedding also. I'd just worry about all the ice cream melting before guests could serve themselves.
