Sleeping the night before?!

Brittany, on June 7, 2019 at 6:42 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
My wedding day is quite a ways away, but I’m a little nervous about getting sleep the night before the wedding! Before a vacation I am up all night, I got so excited about my now fiancé and I having our first Christmas together I didn’t sleep for days! Please if anyone has any tips, I’m gonna need them!

Melatonin! I swear by this stuff! Start low in dosage and go up as needed. I only need about 3mg

Zz quil works really well for me. Takes about an hour or two to kick in, so I take it at 7 if I want to be asleep by 8:30-9. I also sometimes spray my pillow with lavender, underneath if I think it’ll break me out, and listen to the deep sleep music sounds on an app called Insight Timer.

I used to take melatonin (i slept but i didn’t feel rested) and my husband takes Zquill as needed(he too takes it about an hr before).
But, I didn’t sleep for the week before, anxious and stressed, and i stayed up late the night before so by the time my head hit the pillow I was out!

Omg girl same!! My wedding is not until this December, but I’m already stressing about not being able to go to sleep the night before the wedding for the same reason! I get really cranky too when I don’t get enough sleep.😬

I'm also a big fan of melatonin. Definitely knocks me out pretty quick - I take about a 5mg dose, or a 10mg dose if I'm having a really hard time falling asleep (sick, stressed, etc.) If I'm not in the mood to pop a pill before bed though, sometimes I'll use a casein protein powder (It's called Iso something or other) and mix it with some greek yogurt for a dessert protein "pudding" before bed and I'm out COLD pretty fast! Helps my quality of sleep too.

I thought the same thing but by the time that night came I was exhausted and slept like a baby. If you do take melatonin or ZQuil make sure you try it well in advance because everybody reacts differently to those. Good luck.

I totally see what you mean. i feel like i'll be tossing and turning with excitement but you do need good rest for the next day since it will be a long one.

My wedding isn't until November but I have the night before all planned out. I will be taking a hot bubble bath and just soaking until my water gets cold that way I can let my body relax. I will also be turning my electric blanket on a low setting so when I get in bed it will already be warm. I got a hotel room that way I would have no distractions or people disturbing my peace.

Oooo I’m definitely using the lavender spray tip! I think I’m gonna try out a few of these in advance before the wedding to see what works best, so I’ll def add the zquil to the list!

See that could happen to me, but if I’m afraid of that too because I am known to oversleep if I miss a night!

I’m getting married in December too! But 2020!
Right?! And I am the type if I’m super tired the second I sit down somewhere remotely comfortable I’ll pass out and I won’t wake up, and I’m so worried I’ll knock out in the bridal suite before the reception 😅

Oooo I like the pudding idea! Some times I get hungry right before bed and I end up not being able to sleep unless I eat something! So, it would kinda solve 2 issues for the same problem

Oooo exercise could help plus it makes you feel good when you wake up in the morning! I’m gonna have to look up if my hotel has a gym and see the hours. Thanks for the tip!

Ok I love all of this! I decided to stay at a hotel as well, my mom really wanted me to stay in my childhood room, but I really wanted the privacy and space, plus my fiancé also has a room, so we can spend a little bit of time alone together after the rehearsal dinner, and before bed. I’ll pick up a blanket heater, and a bath bomb!

Start taking melatonin a few weeks before the wedding. It takes a bit of time for it to build up in your system. Taking magnesium supplements also helps if you don't want to go the melatonin route.
