Singapore or Europe (santorini and Paris)???

on June 15, 2019 at 8:48 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7
FH and I are trying to decide on where to go for our honeymoon. If you have been to either of these places please share your experiences and thoughts. What time of the year did you go? What was the weather, flight, food like? Did you have fun? Etc We’re hoping to go in July/August after our June 2020 wedding. Thanks

I am from North America but live in Europe. I haven't been to Singapore but I'd recommend Europe for a few reasons. Once you get a stamp in the passport, you can visit 26 countries that are part of the EU. The transportation is relatively reliable and it's easy to get a pass to go through multiple countries. I think as well that there is more variety with food as each country in Europe has their own cultural cuisine. Simply, there is so much to see, hear, touch and enjoy. Recommend if you pick Europe to buy tickets in advance.. much cheaper 6 months out than 1 or 2 months before.

Not sure where you are flying from but it was a 5 hr flight from where I lived before to Iceland, 6 hours to Netherlands and Germany, 7 hrs to Copenhagen and so on. Spain has the most sunny days if you appreciate that. The winters in the Scandinavian countries can be cold but are generally milder the further south you are. Summer is a great time to visit Europe but in the winter, there are some fun Chrisfmas markets and season specific activities.

I've been to other parts of Europe such as Rome, London, Berlin but not Santorini or Paris. I been to Singapore. Singapore is great. really lovely place, So are the places in Europe you're looking into. I went to Europe in December so it was so cold. I went to Singapore in July so it was warm humid hot as southeast Asia tends to be. Singapore is not cheap. Europe cannnnnnn be cheap, doesn't mean it is, but it cannnnnnn be. Both are such different but great experiences

    Santorini for the win!!

I loved Singapore but, it's not a cheap and you can see the whole thing in a day. Or two days even. You can easily blow 1k in Singapore in a couple days, it's very expensive. I went in September for five days and was broke by day 3 lol.

Paris is Paris. Full of tourists and beautiful sights. If you have never been, definitely go, if you have definitely check out a place not as filled with tourists. Paris during the summer (when I went) is crowded. I agree with PP, if you choose to go to the EU, visit more than just France.

But Santorini? Go there!! It’s like a postcard. It's cheap as well, very walkable. When I went it was in October and the weather was super comfortable. Bonus, the people are just lovely.

We’re going to Greece for ours. 2 days in Athens, then a ferry to Mykonos for 4 days and another ferry to Santorini for 4 more days. We had a travel agent and that’s what he recommended we do. It’s a direct flight from JFK to Athens which I’m thrilled about. We’ll do touristy stuff in Athens, party and beach at Mykonos, and relax in santorini. I CANNOT WAIT!

I loved Santorini but I’ve heard that that time of year is CRAZY busy as it is high tourist season, so prices are high and streets are packed — so while it is a beautiful place I’d recommend, I’d also recommend doing some research to make sure it’ll be what you hope.
