Sicily/Greece Honeymoon

herecometheclarks, on December 29, 2016 at 10:25 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Did anyone hit up these two places specifically? If so, did you go on a cruise, or book through a travel agent, or just do it all yourself? My FH really wants to go to Greece and my family is from Sicily so I figured we could do both over ten days or so.

We are going to Europe for our 1 year but we haven't booked anything yet. I started doing a lot of research for 2 weeks of city hoping and it was very stressful to figure out. I think we plan to take a cruise instead. Fly into Barcelona, see Italy, Spain, Greece, and fly out of Rome. Just as an example. I think you can definitely do both places. I don't know if a Cruise will have those 2 specific ports so maybe going through a travel agent may be best.

Not for our honeymoon, but I've been on a cruise through Greece and Turkey and it was awesome! The cruise was all-inclusive and we booked all of our excursions through them as well. In Greece we visited Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, and Rhodes - Santorini and Mykonos were my favorites!

I've been looking into Greece and Italy for our one year but I haven't booked anything yet. I think 2 cities would be fine but if you get more then that you'd be rushed and traveling the whole time I was told.

Good point @Sabrina! We definitely want to be relaxed. I'm just hoping somebody did the same for their honeymoon.

My fiancé's father is from Greece so we go every summer. This year we did Thasos, Milos and Santorini. Santorini is great but very busy and not as "authentic". Milos we absolutely loved! There are so many beautiful places to explore and it never feels touristy or crowded. On Milos we stayed at Miland Suites. The view was amazing, rooms were beautiful, and staff was extremely accommodating. On Santorini we stayed at Cocoon Suites which had fabulous views but much smaller rooms. We were able to take the speed ferry from Milos to Santorini and it only took a couple hours. Definitely worth it to do these two islands together!

Greece is amazing! I just went this spring for about 10 days, we (well, mostly my FFIL) booked it all, no travel agent. I've personally never used a travel agent, I figure I can do all that leg work myself and honestly researching cities and hotels/hostels, etc is so much fun and gets me excited for the trip. I also am not a big fan of cruises, I hate when they come into port and it's just a mass exodus of people. Also, norovirus...

In Greece we did Athens and Meteora on the mainland and then the islands of Mykonos, Santorini, and Naxos. We did not do Sicily but I would think you could combine those trips if you wanted without too much difficulty. Good luck planning!

I am also doing research on a potential honeymoon in Italy & Greece. It's hard trying to figure out an itinerary without missing anything. I definitely don't want to be traveling and on the go the whole trip so I'm trying to find a happy medium. I have lived in Italy via study abroad so I know a lot about the transportation system there which is fairly simple and efficient. I just don't know if it's worth a second flight to get to Greece or another country? I'm confused too so I'm getting in on this discussion.... Smiley smile
