Shuttle Service to and from Hotel and Venue.

Erin, on July 9, 2020 at 7:52 AM Posted in Indiana Planning 1 4
Hello! Did anyone use shuttle service for their wedding to transport guests to and from the hotel and venue? Any advice/tips? We will be getting married in Fishers, IN.

We considered it, though not enough guests were planning on staying in our room block to make it worth it. Our hotel doesn't have a shuttle, so we'd have to rent a bus through a transportation company. We recently postponed our wedding, so if more guests book the hotel for our new date, I might consider adding a shuttle. I recommend seeing how many people are staying in the hotel, and also check whether the hotel is willing to provide the shuttle. Maybe also check with the guests staying in the room block to see if they'd be interested in using the shuttle if it were available?

We provided it. It was very expensive but our venue was on a dark mountain 30-45 minutes from our hotel blocks. We thought it was best since people would be drinking and didn’t know the area. Only 12 people RSVPd that they wanted to use it and 10 of those ended up driving themselves anyway. Only one couple used it and they would have driven if they knew they were the only ones. Unless you have people you really think will need it and use it it’s not worth it.

My brother did this for his wedding. It wasn’t a shuttle, per se. They just used a rental service. My best advice would be to know all of the little details in the contract- what hours they will be shuttling people to and from? Will they be doing a pick up at regular intervals (for example, every 30 mins)? Do they charge a flat rate per hour, or is it per trip, do they charge for gas? Will there be any sort of penalties that can be charged? Will they be charging you a fee to clean the car after your event? Will guests be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages in the vehicle? I would sit down and make a list of all the details and questions you would like answers to, and write them down for each place you talk to. I will say, my brother got a great deal on the service they used, but it still wasn’t cheap. However, my parents agreed it was the best thing they spent money on for the wedding- everyone was able to relax and have a great time knowing that guests would not be drinking and driving

We did. The hotel had a shuttle that I could rent for the day for $200. The hotel was only 1 mile away from the venue, so it was also able to make multiple trips before and after so people weren't rushing to make 1 shuttle time. I think pretty much everyone who stayed at the hotel used it.
