I decided on moissanite mainly because of its price. I've read articles on why diamonds are priced the way they are, and it was just 😱. I'm not knocking anyone who has a diamond because they are still very beautiful! My fiance and I are fairly young (24), and find moissanite to be gorgeous, so I'd rather the money go towards something else.

I chose moissanite because I love that it has a higher refractive index (sparklier) and is less brittle than diamond, while being almost as hard. Also, I love thay it was originally found in meteorites! Finally, while I do think diamonds are beautiful, I have serious ethical issues with the diamond industry (false scarcity, inflated prices, child labor, etc.). Actually, both my engagement ring and wedding band are moissanite!

Actually moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, Diamond, which is the hardest known mineral, is a 10...

I read it was more radiant than a diamond for a fraction of the price. Didn't make any sense for me to get a diamond after that!

I chose to have a moissanite center stone for many reasons... price, sourcing, etc. Most people think it's a diamond... looks the same. The stone to me doesn't make the ring, the design and the detail make it. My fiance did a fabulous job when it came to designing my ring. Couldn't have done it any better!

Yes, that’s why she said moissanite is almost as hard as diamond

I chose moissanite because I wanted something different than a diamond, but something as strong! After tons of research I fell in love with the brilliance and strength of the jewels

I always dreamed with this Gabriel&Co setting but the setting itself cost what we have planned to spend in the ring (setting and stone). I did research and realized I could my setting and an amazing colorless stone for s good price. I love the moissanite. People cant tell the difference.

We choose moissanite for a few reasons. 1) I love that it’s higher index of refraction makes it more sparkly. 2) It is drastically less expensive than diamond. 3) it was originally found in a meteorite and only naturally occurs in space - meaning the one on my ring is lab grown. This was important because I’m an astrophysicist and love the space connection and my FH is a chemist so the fact it’s lab grown makes him happy.

That was edited, thank you. She added the ‘almost as hard’ after I posted the Mohs numbers.

This is mine. PERFECT for me and what I wanted. Not only is it much cheaper, looks the same and just as strong, but no one died to find it.

    Here’s mine!

I first looked at moissanite because I knew I liked the look of large stones and thin bands. Even if FH could afford a diamond that large, I would never want him to spend that much money on a ring. I had also read a long piece years ago in The Atlantic (I think) about the history of diamonds and how insanely inflated their prices are. So I was pretty turned off by diamonds, but still wanted a white/clear stone.

Turns out when I went to look at a moissanite and compared it to a diamond, I actually liked it better. I LOOOOOOVE how it sparkles. I think with some good marketing, moissanite would get super popular.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that people assume it’s diamond and then I look like I’m wearing an insanely expensive ring.

Here is my ring! All three stones are moissanite and I am in love with it! It it so sparkly and has a lot more color when it shines, which is my favorite part about it. I could also afford to get larger stones since they are cheaper than diamonds but perfect for every day wear. Lastly, I am an engineer and it's cool to say it was discovered naturally in a meteor site! The longer I have it, the happier I am that I did not get diamonds.

Here's mine! I am over the moon with it Smiley heart Wanted to get something on the larger side and diamonds just weren't affordable for us. Soooo glad we came across moissanite, because I wouldn't even swap it for a diamond now Smiley love

We got it from a local place in Melbourne Cullen Moissanite

My moissy! I love when it's featured with a bit more contrast, dark & bright.
