Show me your bustles, please!

Casey, on August 5, 2021 at 3:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17
Hello,

Deciding on how to get my dress bustled but I'm stumped! There's so many types and finding pictures online isn't really working. Can you please show me your dress bustled and tell me what kind of bustle it is?

Your gown looks similar to my friend's. She had two hooks in the back and train pinned to their outside:

I wouldn't worry about figuring this out in your own. When it comes time to take it to your seamstress, they should be able to show you what style is good (depends on the silhouette and the fabric).

I agree that the alterations person should be able to tell you what bustle would work best! I've found these articles helpful to me in the past, to help me understand what I liked the look of and could ask my seamstress about:

    https://www.theknot.com/content/what-is-a-bustle

    https://looksgud.com/blog/types-of-wedding-dress-bustles-styles/

ALSO! Make sure you have a bridesmaid/someone come with you for your final fitting and video the bustle being done as well as watching it, so on your day when everyone is frazzled and stressed, or that particular bridesmaid is nowhere to be found and you and can't figure it out, you can watch the recording.

Your dress is so Pretty I love the back on it I would take it to your seamstress and they can give you a good idea, as well as how much it's going to cost

I second Rosie's amazing advice about making sure you have someone come with you to the final fitting to see how the bustle works and to take a video of the bustle!! They can be intricate and the points can be tough to find - I've always ended up turning to the video for help with bustles on the wedding day!!

This video by WeddingWire shows a few different bustle styles, but your seamstress / tailor will be able to tell you the best style for your gown:

You absolutely should get some! I would've had a rough time in my dress without some and it looks like we have similar length dress trains 😊
