Should you live together first before getting married or not

Edward, on October 11, 2022 at 1:37 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 15
This question has been asked to us a lot and we want led to see what everyone one else thought about it too.
For us we have been living together for two months and our wedding date is November 17, 2023. This is how we can see how the other person is at home besides just dating. All the real habits come out when you do live together.Should you live together first before getting married or not 1

We also moved in once we got engaged. We found it to be a very helpful experience and ease the transition into married life.

Definitely agree on the real habits coming out at that point. We both had quirks each didn’t realize about the other until moving in together 😂

We moved in together about 10 months prior to getting engaged. Definitely have noticed habits of each other!

Hahahaha that's how we discovered that neither of us cook much more than stir fry or quesadillas but we both want to learn!

I definitely think it helps! You don't truly know somebody until you're with them 24/7 haha. Although I do have a friend who is getting married next year and has been dating her spouse for 6 years and they have never lived together [cultural on his side] and they have a fantastic relationship. So to each their own!

We lived together a year before getting engaged. It definitely helped us get to know each other much better, find out what really annoys us about the other and how to deal with it. But now when people ask us how married life is, we just say, it doesn't feel like anythings different.

Hey ok we did live together before we broken up for a while so he moved out. Then started to rekindle things back up and so when we got engaged we decided then that we will be living together until we gotten married. So when he comes over to spend the night we just fell back in the swing of things and I know all his habits and he knows mine. So will be married very soon as I spoken about it in your first forum before. So its up to both if you continue or not to live together. And you mentioned that you just started living with each 2 months ago.

My fiancée and I said the exact same thing! We moved in together in June, got engaged in September, and are getting married on June 9th, 2023. He said he already knew he wanted to marry me, but living with me and seeing how well we continued to get along solidifies it for him!

Hi! My fiancée and I moved in together before we got engaged because it just felt right to both of us. We got engaged about 7 months afterward. We've learned so much about each other while living together, it's been interesting for sure (in a good way). I think it really helped us bond and figure things out as a team. Everyone is different so I think it really depends on the couple.

Our wedding is next year 11/25/23 Smiley heart and we are so excited.

I think it's better if you do live together before you get married. My fiance and I are currently long distance though, and hopefully I'll be able to move in with him a few months beforehand c:

I know my fiancee habits (a great deal of them) He's a 1am, 2am, 3am house walker, snacker and loves to repeat himself just in case I didn't understand him the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. He knows my habits as well such as leaving cabinet doors open, tops off of bottles and I'm in bed by 8:30am. I learned all of this just by spending time and actually us paying attention to each other. While I can't wait to marrying him...I rather wait until we marry to share a home.
