Shoe problems πŸ‘ πŸ‘€πŸ₯²πŸ™ƒ

Bobbi, on May 24, 2021 at 3:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28
So I've picked my dress, I love it and can't wait to wear it. However, I have a lot of foot problems, heels are impossible for long periods of time. If it's 2 inches it gets too much to handle for longer then 1 to 2 hours and not enough arch support leaves me feeling like I can't walk. I really want to feel beautiful on my wedding day but I care about being comfortable, after all it's my wedding day I want to be able to dance and have fun and not be sitting down all night when I want to have fun.

If any one has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. πŸ™
Also here are pictures of what my dress looks like.Shoe problems πŸ‘ πŸ‘€πŸ₯²πŸ™ƒ 1

Comfort and health over style always. I suggest a really nice flat. Look up wedding flats on Amazon or Pinterest

Depending on the weather where you are you can always wear a nice pair of sparkly flat sandals ... I’m wearing very low block heels, they are probably around the 2 inch mark. But I’m also wearing inserts that support my arch.

Heels are absolutely not required! I don't want them either so I got a 1.5 inch block heel. You can find tons of beautiful flats on Etsy or even at bridal stores like JJ's House.

Definitely wear something you'll be comfortable in. You don't want to be miserable on your wedding day. Maybe a low wedge heel sandal would work. There are some really nice sparkly "bridal" ones. Check David's Bridal, Amazon, etc. Good luck.

You can change your shoes after the ceremony and photos! Maybe find a 1.5 inch block heel you’re comfortable in for the first couple hours then change to flats or sneakers.

I’m wearing heels for the ceremony and photos then changing into to some flats covered in rhinestones. I want to be comfortable and I’m not a big heel wearer so this is what I decided.

I would look for something with adequate arch support and the appropriate drop (tilt of shoe from heel to toe). Flats often have no arch support and no drop, and they tend to cut into the top of my foot so I don't always find them that comfortable and sometimes a short heel is actually better. Typical athletic sneakers (the most comfy shoes out there IMO) have a comfortable toe box with room to wiggle your toes, arch support, a slightly elevated heel (slight drop from heel to toe), some cushioning. Ensuring that your wedding shoes have at least some of those features will probably be the most comfortable for wearing for hours at a time.

I am wearing 1.5" block heels for our ceremony (which is outdoors) and then likely either the same heels or slightly taller ones for our reception (have to make a decision this week).

Start with heels for the ceremony and switch into cute rhinestone sandals at the reception, when needed.

On another message board someone said they were wearing these, which I thought is such a cool idea (however, many styles are on back order right now): https://pashionfootwear.com/collections/shoes

Also, I would keep in mind that generally you'll have your dress altered to the height of the shoe you wear so that it just lightly brushes the floor when you walk, and you'll want to bring those shoes to the alterations appointments. I say this because I'm likely switching to flats at some point late in the evening but it will make walking in my dress harder when I do because of all the extra fabric I will then have to step over, so if you know that you'll be in flats a majority of the night then you may want to just go with flats the whole event so your dress is designed to look the best with them Smiley smile

I love your dress btw! The detailing and the slit are amazing and so unique! I scoured the internet, Pinterest, etc. for flats as I am like a baby deer in heels, plus ankle pain from a previous leg injury. I would look for non bridal shoes as well as you may find something fun and unique you may not have considered otherwise! Pinterest is great too! Good luck Smiley smile

Try looking for a kitten heel shoe with a removeable sole. Then you can insert a sole with arch support.

I don’t wear heels very often. If I do, it is booties/wedges. We are 4 months out and I have yet to find a shoe that I am in love with.

I’d think about a low block heel like in the photo, or even a wedge if you want some height. I am doing a wedge Smiley smile

Your dress is beautiful. I would recommend a small block heel if you want something other than flats. They are typically very comfortable.

Everyone else is saying what I was thinking. A cute block heel for the wedding maybe a nice 2 inch heel. For the reception a cute flat sparkle shoe or a cute converse that's been bedazzled. You want to be comfortable and I understand you want it to be cute as well. But you can be cute and comfy. Good luck on finding the right shoe.

I have no idea why so many people think high heels are necessarily better than lower ones. Your toes briefly stick out, no more than a few times in an evening. Choose comfy low heel or flat shoes with pretty toes. Done.

Girl I am in the same boat. In my real life, I wear expensive orthopedic shoes almost every single day. A strappy heel or sandal is not in the cards for me, even for 2 hours of photos/ceremony. Switching to a flip flop or a ballet flat won't work either - i would still be in pain, especially the next day.

My shoes won't show under my dress, which I did on purpose. I bought a cute white bootie from Vionic. I own a ton of their shoes and have been so satisfied. They are expensive, I saved a bit by ordering from DSW. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, but I had to make something work so I don't end up bed ridden in pain for a few days.

Thank you I'll check them out! That's how I am, it's not as simple as changing shoes midway either because it can still cause pain at the end of the day. I'd rather be able to enjoy my honeymoon instead of being to pain the whole time. πŸ˜…

Thanks, I've been looking up some shoes, it's just been hard when they have nothing that cute that's orthopedic. I'm still searching though πŸ‘ keeping up hope.
