Shoe color

Ashley, on February 7, 2024 at 12:15 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

My wedding colors are champagne/tan and coral. Which shoe color should my bridesmaids wear? I was thinking champagne

At the very most I would suggest a color or group of colors that most women have in their closet or can continue to wear after. I think more women would own a nude sandal or heel than champagne. I’d tell them to pick anything in the range from beige or champagne to nude. IMO it’s overstepping to ask people to spend money on a shoe they will never wear again.

What color will their dresses be? I agree that nude might be an easier color for them to find. I have strong feelings about bridesmaid shoes, as I’ve been in a lot of weddings with ridiculous shoe requirements. One time I had to go to every shoe store in five malls trying to find clear plastic shoes with a gold sole. It’s a miracle the bride and I stayed friends. 😆 I advise letting them choose within a range that will let them pick shoes they like, can find easily, and will blend. Remember they’re your friends first. No one really notices the bridesmaids shoes.

Are the dresses short so the shoes will be on display? Most dresses are not so that is a non issue. Even if they are short, guests will not pay any attention at all to what they are wearing so they can wear anything. Be aware that not everyone owns or has a use for nude/champagne shoes and they will be expensive one time wear for a number of people. Let them wear a neutral color of their choice and heel height of their choice. That came be black, cream, gold, silver, and not everyone is comfortable in heels and some people have invisible disabilities that prevent them from being able to wear them.

The dresses are coral. I figure they can go to a shoe store or order online(online probably will be cheaper)

The dresses are long. There are places as well as sites online that don't charge an arm or a leg for a pair of shoes.

You can get a LOT of color variation online unless you set a specific store. Just FYI. I ran into that trouble trying to match my sapphire blue color.

It doesn’t matter. It’s still more considerate to pick something that your friends are more likely to already own or be able to wear. I would only rarely wear a champagne colored shoe.

Champagne or even gold shoes would look lovely with coral. Best of luck!

I'd see if they all possibly just have a nude shoe already. It's not normal to expect your wedding party to buy shoes especially for the wedding.

I agree with others that I'd have them to wear nude colored shoes (which they hopefully already own). Since your dresses are long, the shoes won't be visible anyway. And I would avoid buying any heels from a discount site like Shein which would likely be uncomfortable since your bridesmaids will need to wear these shoes all day long

Just because it is inexpensive for you doesn’t mean that they can justify the cost of something that they will wear one time for a few hours at most and then donate or put in the trash because it is not their personal style. Again, champagne/nude/cream/whatever you call it is not a universal color that every woman owns or has a use for. If you want these, you need to pay for them yourself (as a prop, not a thank you gift) and make sure they are comfortable wearing them before you purchase.

I’m pretty sure everyone has a nude color pair of shoes. I’m not forcing anyone to get something they will throw away. Just asking for suggestions.

To be fair, your OP only said that you were thinking of asking them to wear champagne colored shoes. If you suggest colors in the nude/champagne/beige range I don’t think that should be a problem.
