September/Early october Honeymoon in Spain

Katie, on January 17, 2014 at 2:06 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3

I'm planning a honeymoon in Spain in late September/early October . Has anyone been there/have tips? I'm going to Ibiza, Barcelona, San Sebastian and Madrid. Has anyone been to those places or have any tips, hotels they stayed at?

We were in Barcelona for 3-days a few years ago and absolutely LOVED it!!! We rented an apartment. Be sure to visit la Sagrada Familia, eat at some local bakeries, drink Sangria, and eat tapas. Definitely be aware of your surroundings, since there are a large amount of pickpockets, although we didn't experience it. We did hear a lot of stories from fellow cruisers who weren't as lucky. You will LOVE Spain!

I've been to Alicante twice. FH's parents have a house there (it's a 2 hour flight from where we live so it's just like going to the cottage for them). The weather should be great that time of year... it should be a bit cooler but still quite warm.

Ibiza is a huge holiday spot for the British and sort of known for its nightlife and party atmosphere. If you're into that, look up the areas to hit up or events going on and you should have a great time.

The Mirror Barcelona, Hotel Bagués or Hotel Claris

Hotel De las Letras, Hotel Villa Real or Gran Meliá Fénix

Villa Soro, Es Cucons Hotel Rural or Ca Na Xica - Boutique Hotel

Read Buying Renfe Tickets Online. Study the map which shows what cities that the AVE goes to. You may be able to get the web discounts if you buy early. A Rail Pass will be more expensive than buying tickets at Renfe directly. You cannot get the discounts that Renfe gives.

Do not plan to see too much of Spain at one time. Many want to see one new city every day. They may be unaware of the distances between cities and one does not want to be traveling every single day. It is best to stay in cities for at a minimum of two nights, preferably three.

Be sure to contact your bank that you will be using your ATM in Spain. The back of your ATM card will show what networks your bank is tied to, so using an ATM machine with the same network will minimize any currency charges. When you use an ATM machine, try to find on
