Yes, most that I've checked out do require a uniformed police officer onsite if you're serving alcohol or even based on the number of guests. Some only require it if you'll have more than 50 guests. I've found that the average price is $250.

Some venues require security guards, it is their requirement especially when you serve alcohol. For my brother's wedding, we had to book security guards. The manager of the venue also wanted us to install security cameras and video monitoring for serving alcohol.

First, we didn't like it, but later we found that it is good to have the security measures because the event went well. It seems costly but security guards alone won't cost much. In my opinion, you could get better deals if you search for a security package.
