Seating Chart Sign - Handwrite or Vinyl or?

Megan, on October 25, 2019 at 12:25 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

Hi,

We have a large, gold frame (36" x 42") to use for our seating chart. I was going to paint the glass one of the jewel tones we're using and then the list of who is going to sit at each table. We're not assigning specific seats.

I might handwrite all the names, but I'm wondering what other people have done for their seating charts? Is there a company I can some how order for vinyl pre-made? I feel like it wouldn't have enough time to be made since we won't confirm final headcount until a few weeks before. Should I order a giant poster to put in the frame? Thoughts?

If you're comfortable handwriting it, I'd go for it! If not, do you have a friend/family member with a cricut (or knock off brand) machine? My sister has one and I plan on asking her if she can cut out some vinyl for me!

I was originally going to handwrite mine, then time got in the way and stress. What if I didn't like it? What if it got messed up in transport? A lot of factors made me do a last minute ordering online.

I used Zazzle, never used them before. Paid about $50 for a poster like paper (they had other options, but I was going for most cost effective with the time and money I had) that I had to frame and I think it was 24x30. So not small. However, it would have originally only come out to about $30 something but I had to get it expedited to arrive on Oct 3 because my wedding was Oct 5. That was my fault. Outside of the heavy shipping cost pain, I think they were affordable and I'd recommend. They got it to me exactly on the date they said they would, nicely packaged. It was easy to customize and do!

    Hey Megan!!

How comfortable are you handwriting your seating chart? If you decide to do this, you still have time to practice and make it perfect, so that's great!

Do you think that it would be too much work for you in the run-up to your wedding and would you be happier getting a posted printed for it?

I’ve seen it where people make a template on the computer, tape it behind the glass and trace over it. I would trust myself with that, before free handing it. I feel like it’s really hard to keep the lines straight and the handwriting good throughout the whole thing.
