Save the dates?

Cassi, on December 23, 2021 at 8:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
Ive made save the date posts in the past and I have been trying to figure out if I want to send out save the dates or not 🤔 our wedding is so small it’s probably pointless. However, I do want them for the experience and keepsake of it all. I only plan to invite one other person that is not included in the wedding party. What are some really affordable sites that would make this hard to pass up on? Lol

I’m having a small wedding too and thought sending save the dates would be pointless too but I wanted to do the whole experience so I used Zazzle. I only needed about 50 of them and for that the price wasn’t too bad! I'm probably going to use them for the invitations too.

Yes that’s a great idea! I planned on using mine more for keepsake purposes and invites. I’m literally having a micro wedding like less than 20. But I don’t want to miss a thing about planning and the whole experience of being engaged. Thank you!!

You could find some super cute ones on etsy! Especially if you only need 10-20

I wouldn't feel too bad about "missing" a part of the bridal experience by not doing save the dates. They have only become a thing in the past 10 years or so, so they're a relatively new trend. Ann's Bridal Bargains is very cheap, and you can get some good deals PM Vistaprint, but you may not be able to get less than 20, so you'll be spending more money just because you'll be buying a lot of extras.

I had a small backyard wedding of 50 people in total (including me and my husband). We skipped save the dates. Instead we just gave our guests a heads up before sending out the actual invitations.

I used Walgreens and at the time they had 60% off. I got 120 for less than $50, which I think is a great deal! They always have at least 40% off and they’re pretty decent quality.

It is a HUGE misconception that save the dates are a new trend as of the last 5-10 years. What people mean when they say that is that sending a postcard with the information has only been done for the last 5-10 years. Prior to that for many decades people actually got on the phone and talked to each other which the cost is very minimal if anything. At 6-12 months, the same time frame as the modern postcards, either the couple themselves or their parents would contact everyone on the guest list to give them a heads up that this is happening on this date so make travel arrangements and schedule time off from work. The only thing that has changed over is that people balk over talking on the phone, citing that it’s inconvenient.

The size of the guest list is irrelevant. Another argument that is used as to not give any advance notice is that only people who are traveling have busy schedules. That is not true at all. Local guests can easily have a tougher schedule to accommodate with last minute notice but people are told that’s not true.
Since price is a concern, go the old school method with a phone call that literally costs nothing extra out of your pocket.
