Save The Dates & Invitations

Jamie, on September 13, 2019 at 7:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

How many month/weeks before your wedding are you sending out Save the Dates? What about invitations?

Everything I read says something different!

What she said unless many are traveling or it is a destination wedding. A little earlier is acceptable in those situations.

We sent STDs out about 11 months in advance and invitations about 5 months in advance. Our timeline was a little different than most because of our requirements.

-- Our wedding is 3 weeks before Christmas.

-- Over half of of our guest list is coming into MD from 9 states: CA, TX, IL, IN, OH, GA, NC, VA & DC.

-- Some members of my family are military.

-- Some of our vendors are requesting numbers starting a month before the wedding.

I have people traveling from all over the country. I sent save the dates at 10 months and invites at 3 months.

We moved our date up a few weeks ago to January of 2020, so we couldn’t have followed the normal schedule for sending save the dates.

we sent our save the dates yesterday (4 months before)
we’ll send out invites at the beginning of November (7-8 weeks before)

it would have been nice to have more time to work with because we’re inviting people from TN, AL, VA, GA, HI, AZ, NC, Thailand, and South Korea to our wedding in MI. We don’t expect many of them to be able to come because it’s such short notice, but we’ll see how it goes

I agree with this. We sent out Save the Dates 5 months out and our invitations about 5 weeks out.

Thanks ladies! This all good info Smiley smile Most of my family and our friends are local, but all of my fiance's family are coming from out of state except for his parents and brothers. The wedding is in NH and his family is coming from NY, NJ, TX, AZ, FL, OH, SC...

Our wedding is May 16, 2020. I was thinking STDs by Oct/Nov and invitations by Feb/March.... does that seem reasonable?

We sent our save the dates out 10 months ahead, invites 3 months ahead. Over 100 guests were out of state so we gave a lot more notice. Plus it was a summer wedding, and we are of the age where lots of our friends are getting married.
