Save the Dates for Reception Only?

Kelly, on October 23, 2018 at 4:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Hello! I’m new here. I got engaged on August 5th and am still in the early stages of planning lol. We are having a private destination wedding in Jamaica on June 9th, 2019 with just the two of us. We are having a reception in our city when we return. Is it ok to send std’s for a reception only? Or should I just send invitations? Thanks for any advice!!

Yes, it's OK to send a STD for a reception only. It would probably be best for you to be clear that it's a reception invite only. Something like, "Save the Date! Our Wedding Reception is on [date] and you're invited to party!"

    That's clear enough.

I think it's fine! Especially if you have out of town guests that need to plan in advance.

STDs are typically for guests that may make other plans, guests that need to travel, or other guests that need planning time to attend. I think STD for the reception are completely fine! we sent ours out 6 months ahead of time, so the OOT Guests had time to plan.

Awesome! Thanks everyone for the replies! I think I will send them out just so people can plan ahead if they want to attend. I will word it to make sure it’s known that it is a reception only.
