San Diego/ Coronado Island Honeymoon!

Danielle, on May 7, 2018 at 3:08 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15
We just booked our honeymoon! We are going to stay on Coronado Island for 4 days and San Diego for 5 days! Any recommendations on what to do while we’re there? Coronado is meant to be the more relaxing half and San Diego the more exploring & adventurig part of the honeymoon!!

My husband and I really enjoyed walking around Little Italy at night and getting dinner in that area. There are some awesome pizza/pasta restaurants!

Coronado is amazing! I grew up going there, and we got engaged on Christmas Eve at the Hotel Del! I'm not sure where you are staying, but spending some time at the Hotel Del for dinner and touring the hotel would be fun! It's beautiful. And the beach is right in front of there, so it's super easy to hangout at. Renting bikes and riding around is fun too, since it's such a bicycle friendly island.

The Hotel Del tour is really cool. Also in San Diego there are some dinner cruises that are really nice.

I grew up in San Diego! Hit up Balboa Park, the zoo, Gaslamp District, Torrey Pines, La Jolla Cove, you name it! haha

Def walk around Gaslamp District and Little Italy. If y'all are museum-y type people, head to Balboa Park (or, if not, they have some amazing botanical gardens to look at for free!). Drive over to Pacific Beach and park (for free) and walk the boardwalk - that is what tourists like to do, you can head off anywhere off the boardwalk and relax in the sun, or grab an ice cream...or...a touristy souvenir. (There is an amazing mexican restaurant called Taco Surf that makes delicious burritos in Pacific Beach - not too far from the boardwalk. My only complaint is that they had too much meat on them! Haha!) You will HAVE to drive to Ocean Beach (and say hi to me!), grab a Hodad burger and, yes, enjoy the beach, or go into the little shops near the beach. La Jolla is fun, if you are like me, and WISH you were rich - they have tons of little shops that sell very expensive items, but it is fun to walk around.
Let me know what y'all are into...I live here!

While in SD, you can kayak near the La Jolla caves. If you're in to US history and/or military history at all, we love the tour of the restored USS Midway. Be sure to get the audio-tour and take the time to listen to the "b-side" recordings of vets' talking about their actual experiences on the aircraft carrier during WWII -- both fascinating and heartbreaking! The San Diego Zoo and related Safari Park are awesome -- and if you go out to the Safari Park, you may as well visit some wineries out that way! There are TONS of things to do, so do research online and/or get the AAA tour book. Nine days in SD will seem like heaven! Smiley heart

Also, look to see what concerts will be in town -- there are lots of fairly small venues that are great!

Everything the users above said. Also check out cool neighborhoods like Hillcrest, North Park, South Park, University Heights, Normal Heights, Kensington and Golden Hill. All super cute and fun.
Along the lines of free concerts, UH has free concerts on Fridays during summer and lots of neighborhoods have free outdoor movies.
I love here and absolutely love it Smiley smile

I took a surfing lesson on Coronado island once. I wouldn't call it relaxing, but it was really fun. Renting bikes on the beach is cool too.

I went with my two best friends but would definitely go back with my DH. There are a few different ones but this is the one we did.

We are staying at Glorietta Bay Inn, right across from the Hotel Del. We will definitely have to rent bikes and do a tour! And that's so sweet that you got engaged there!!
