Sales Tax?

Celina, on March 9, 2020 at 9:37 AM Posted in South Carolina Planning 0 3
Hey y’all so all of the vendors we’ve picked do not charge taxes except for our videographer. Can they do that? This is all new for us. We are located in SC.

If they don't explicitly state that tax is added on, it just means that they are including it in the amount they're charging you. They'll still have to pay the taxes on their business income. The only vendor we had that "charged tax" was our caterer, everyone else was a flat amount. We're also in SC Smiley smile

I don't know if it's the same in SC, but here in CA, a vendor must include sales tax if there is a physical item being delivered. For example, our photographers had to include sales tax because we have an album included in our package and the caterers include sales tax since they're providing food. However, our videographer and florist are not including sales tax. Maybe there's something similar in SC?

Hey there! I know this post is a bit old, but I wanted to chime in with my two cents. Generally, vendors don't charge taxes unless they're required to by law. You should check with your local tax office to make sure that's the case in South Carolina.
