Safari Honeymoon

Jennifer, on June 4, 2019 at 4:23 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

Hi everyone! It has been a huge dream of mine to go on an African Safari and we are considering doing so for our honeymoon. It would definitely be a once in a lifetime trip but we are a bit concerned about the level of romance and relaxation we would be able to have on this type of honeymoon.

Has anyone else done something like this or been interested? Would love to get some of your thoughts!

I didn’t do this for a honeymoon but I did do it as a solo trip. I think you should ABSOLUTELY do it. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever done. I think you can split it up and make it very romantic and relaxing.

If you go, go to Tanzania not Kenya. You can get to Kenya from the border (I lived in Kenya for 2 years, Tanzia is much prettier) then you can see the Masai Mara AND Serengeti. Plan it around the Wildebeest Migration, it’s amazing. In terms of romance, you can find good packages for glamping tents with some that have food and drinks included.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Jennifer Smiley smile

This sounds like an amazing trip for a honeymoon!

Do you plan on working with a travel agent to book it? They may have some great tips and experience on where to go, and how to make it romantic and relaxing at the same time.

Safari is about the most relaxing and romantic honeymoon you could have!! Most places have glamping, it's like a tropical daydream! And the actual safari outings are slow-paced and take place at dusk or dawn, it's quiet and isolated, utterly breathtaking.

Check out places around Lake Naivasha, it's a stunning area and the hospitality is great. Samburu Intrepids, Carnelley's, and Sunbird Lodge are some of the most beautiful places I've been. South Africa is also astonishingly gorgeous. My ex works in wildlife conservations on Table Mountain, the pictures of the landscape he takes are otherworldly-- Cape Town's a great option for a tourist-friendly and comfortable city that's minutes away from deep wilderness. Okavango is also beautiful but harder to traverse than your typical relaxing holiday!

Goes without saying, but if you're going to be in east Africa, stay away from the coast-- and make sure you have a driver who knows what they're doing! It's no fun in a rental, you really want to be the tourist and not the tour guide.
